You awaken in the middle of the night, your room cloaked in darkness. You find that you had been tucked snugly into bed. Gazing down, you realize that Diego had fallen asleep on top of you, his head resting gently on your stomach. Letting out a sigh, you realized that he has chosen to share your bed for the night.
With cautious movements, you slowly creep out of bed, careful not to disturb Diego's slumber. It's approximately 3 a.m., you're starting to get hungry since you hadn't eaten your dinner. The storm has subsided, leaving only a soft patter of rain outside.
Descending the stairs to the kitchen, you open the refrigerator to scan its contents. You spot some strawberries, you take it out the refrigerator as you then place it on the counter. You pull out a bowl, careful to not make too much noise, as you then start adding the strawberries to the bowl.
As you busy yourself with arranging the strawberries, a pair of arms envelop you from behind. Diego's voice breaks the stillness, his warm breath tickling your neck. "Has hunger finally caught up to you?" he playfully remarks as he rests his head in the crook of your neck.
A soft chuckle escapes your lips, and you lean slightly into his embrace, relishing in the comforting warmth that radiates from his body. You oddly feel a bit comforted, despite the complex dynamics between the two of you.
You chuckle softly, the sound carrying a hint of vulnerability. "Yeah, I'm starving," you reply, turning around to face him. The soft moonlight peaks through the curtains of the kitchen window, illuminating his features, casting a soft glow upon his face.
Diego's arms remain draped loosely around your waist as he looks down at the bowl of strawberries on the counter. "Strawberries, huh?" he remarks, a playful glint in his eyes. "A late-night snack of choice."
You nod, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "They're my favorite," you admit, reaching for a strawberry and popping it into your mouth. The sweet and tangy flavor bursts on your tongue, momentarily distracting you from the complexities of the situation.
Diego watches you with a mixture of curiosity and fondness. "You seem to enjoy the simple pleasures," he remarks, his gaze lingering on your lips.
A blush rises to your cheeks as his words send a subtle wave of warmth through your body. The air between you fills with unspoken tension.
As you reach for another strawberry, Diego's hand gently intercepts yours, his fingers grazing against your skin. "Let me," he murmurs, his voice low and intimate. He delicately plucks a strawberry from the bowl and lifts it to your lips, his eyes locked with yours.
Your heart skips a beat as your lips part, allowing him to place the strawberry between them. You feel the soft brush of his fingertips against your lips.
A shared moment of vulnerability passes between you as unexpressed desires hang in the air.
Diego's slowly takes his thumb and graze it against your lips as you eat the strawberry. He continues to gaze at your lips. Without any exchange of words, he closes the distance as he softly kisses you.
You slowly wrap your arms around his neck as he pulls you in closer with his grip on your waist. You both kiss slowly, with lots of passion.
He pulls away after a few seconds as his gaze shifts to the floor, "I shouldn't have assumed I could stay in your bed without your consent," he admits, his voice tinged with remorse. "I overstepped my boundaries."
A soft smile appears on your lips. "It's okay," you assure him, your voice filled with understanding. "I know you didn't mean any harm. You didn't overstep any boundaries, I would've kicked you out my room if you did."
Diego's eyes meet yours once again, gratitude flickering within them. "I guess you're right," he whispers, his voice barely audible.
You reach out, gently placing your hand on his cheek. "Diego, despite everything, I do care about you," you say softly, your words carrying a weight of hope.
His expression softens, a mix of relief and tenderness illuminating his features. He reaches up, covering your hand with his own, holding it against his cheek. "I... care about you too." he echoes.
You then remove your hand from his cheek as you turn back around to the bowl of strawberries. Diego clears his throat as he removes his hands from your waist and steps back.
When you go turn around to face him again, you notice he had already went up the stairs back to your room.

After finishing your strawberries in the kitchen, you go back up to your room. Upon entering it, you see Diego slumped and sprawled across your whole bed.
"Damn it, Diego." You scoff as you realize you'll have to sleep in the guest bedroom for the night. There's no way a guy like him is a light sleeper. I wouldn't be able to wake him up to move over. You thought.
You grabbed one of your rag dolls Diego was laying on as you exit the room and go down the hall to sleep in the guest bedroom.
