Intrigue

The stone plagued my dreams for months. I spent most days doing research at the surrounding libraries. I detailed every detail of my dreams in journals and even commissioned a local artist to recreate a stunning rendition of the stone on paper, with ink and paint. My research suggested the creature roaming my dreams was a sphinx, but the stone itself continued to remain a mystery.

I eventually reached out to my trusted neighbor, Dr. Grosnik, but was careful not to mention the dreams. Instead, I suggested the stone's mystery and intrigue resulted from my father's stories during my youth. Hinting at the idea that my father had been in the midst of discovery before he passed. Dr. Grosnik, though intrigued, was unable to offer any information, but was adamant to help his young mentee find the answers. So, he wrote letters to many of his other colleagues, who in turn, reached out to their own.

And I waited.

Though tormented by the dreams at night, there was much to occupy my time during the day. An officer and his family had taken up residence in my spare rooms. They were a very close-knit family and I became quick friends with each of them. Between entertaining the family, keeping up with the house chores and duties, and maintaining my father's estate, I stayed in a pleasant state of preoccupation.

In the end, my hospitality to the family was returned when Dr. Grosnik finally received word from a friend about the stone. The friend, a geologist, had also recently been contacted about a stone of similar description. The geologist had reached out to the other interested party who hastily arrived in the capital of Pelnora, with a request for me to join them. In kindness, the family staying with me were adamant I let them return my hospitality by letting them put me up while I was in the city. Agreeing, I soon found myself in the home of the officer's brother, Noel Petrowski. A nice young man, Noel became a quick friend as I conducted business in the city.

...

Upon our initial meeting, it had been rather difficult to convince Professor Jarvina Harkof to take me seriously. Especially since I had no background experience and no way of proving the validity of my information. However, I was finally able to convince Professor Harkof that my information was legitimate when I carefully "recalled" descriptions of the stone's location.

The Professor had poured over my details and quickly determined a few possible locations that might match the locales I had described. We continued to pour through my viewable notes and the multitude of coordinates until we narrowed it down to the most likely match.

Within a month, I left my home in the care of my neighbor and set sail with the Professor and her hired crew. Excited for adventure and ready to answer the stone's calling.
