Polyphemus stood a little ways away from us, bitching on about how he wouldn't even wait to make the mango chutney and would just eat us all alive. Not going to lie, I am a bit happy that I haven't bathed in about a week/80 years so I would at least taste like shit.
"Swim for it!" Grover shrieked and paddled away, Annabeth on Clarisse's back not too far behind.
"Do they really send kids to do these things?" I wondered out loud. Percy looked at me with furrowed brows. "Sorry, I just think it is crazy that they would send 15 year olds to fight a whole cyclops!"
"Well, maybe we should actually fight it and have this conversation later!" Percy yelled back.
"You, young Cyclops!" Polyphemus roared. "Traitor to your kind!" Tyson froze.
"Don't listen to him!" Percy pleaded. "Come on."
I grabbed the arm of Tyson and tried pulling him deeper into the water, but Tyson wasn't moving. He glared at Polyphemus, fire in his eye. "I am not a traitor."
"You serve mortals!" Polyphemus shouted. "Thieving humans!" Polyphemus threw his first boulder. Tyson swatted it aside with his fist.
"Not a traitor," Tyson said. "And you are not my kind."
"Death or victory!" Polyphemus charged into the water right at us but his legs were still cut up from teasing him earlier. He immediately stumbled and fell on his face. I finally laugh. I decided that if this monster was going to kill me, I might as well enjoy these moments. Polyphemus stood up, angrier than ever.
"Go to the ship," Percy demanded, but I shook my head.
"Can't let you have all the fun, water boy."
"You call this fun, Sunshine?"
"Percy! Emelia!" Clarisse yelled. "Come on!"
Tyson looked back at us and smiled. "Go, I can hold Big Ugly."
"Why are you holding Percy?" I asked, laughing. Gods, I am so funny.
Percy, ignoring my comment simply shook his head. "No, he'll kill you. We will fight him together." Awe, brotherly bonding.
Polyphemus wasn't having any of this brotherly bonding. He didn't care if he was ruining such a sweet moment, so he had to try and kill us all. He threw a boulder right at Tyson, who blasted it to bits. Then he grabbed another boulder and launched it right at me and Percy. We both dove in opposite directions away from the landing site.
Percy stood up, not even a little wet after diving underwater. He pulled the water from below him, lifting him up on a wave and riding it toward the Cyclops. He blasted a jet of water at the Cyclops, knocking him back onto the beach.
I felt a little tug in my stomach as I willed the rocks and sand to start swallowing him. He thrashed around and I knew I couldn't hold him for very long.
"Destroy you!" Polyphemus spluttered. "Fleece stealer!"
"Look in a mirror, dumbass!" Percy yelled back. "You've been using the fleece as bait for satyrs so you can kill them!" I could feel the power from within me draining quickly.
"Percy!" I yelled, warning him I couldn't keep this up.
"The Fleece should be used to heal! It belongs to the children of the gods!" Percy just had to continue on.
"I am a child of the gods!" Polyphemus swiped at Percy who sidestepped without much difficulty. "Father Poseidon, curse this thief!" Why is today just giving me so many things to laugh at?
