Arena

Day four

____

IF AUGUST'S MEMORY served him right, it would be midday of the fourth day in arena. After he had calmed down from the revelation that he had broken a rib one and a half days ago. Bishop and August had gone out in search of a hiding spot.

Luckily they did find a small cave, big enough for the both to hold them, and difficult to find, as the entrance was hidden behind some overgrown weed. Bishop found it after stumbling over a root and falling into the cave.

It took a bit to clear the cave, as a bunch of snakes and spiders were housing in it, and neither of them wanted to risk them biting them.

Another advantage of the cave, was that it was a comfortable temperature. As the outside world was filled with a humid hot air with a blaring sun, the inside of the cave was  cool.

When they set up camp, the first thing they did was eat and drink, which brought up another problem. Somehow they had managed to live off the one bottle, for the first two days with no problems, but the water was low, very low. Like one sip left low.

So, Bishop had the brilliant idea to go out to look for fresh water on his own. August was against it, and he voiced it loudly to the younger boy  who didn't seem to care. August thought that if Bishop wanted tk go out l, he should at least let him join, but Bishop denied. The blonde continued to tell August that he couldn't go out, as he should let his body rest of a bit, because otherwise he'd be no help whatsoever.

Reluctantly, August gave in, as even breathing brought a painful ache to his side. So, Bishop went out on his own, leaving August with a grumble behind. The older boy had a bad feeling about this. Maybe it was his pride, that didn't want the boy to leave, as August didn't want him to have to take care of him, or it was just a yet undiscovered care for the other boy.

Whatever it was, August didn't like it, and when Bishop didn't return after a few hours, he almost believed that the boy was dead, or at least injured badly, as he didn't hear a cannon. But Bishop returned, and not alone at that.

Harlow was with him, and, to August's annoyance, Aaron.

They explained how they saw Bishop steal a few water bottles off the careers stack, as he couldn't find a river or lake or anything, and followed him. Harlow at first thought that he might be alone, and was surprised to find out that August was with him, seeing as the older teen was very skeptic over Bishop back in the Capitol.

Aaron saved her by the cornucopia, same as Bishop did him and they ran into the jungle together, where they hid and lived off of their food stack and things they found in the jungle. The careers found them eventually, but Aaron managed to kill the girl from four leaving only the boy from one, Joiner, and girl from Aaron's district, Ciara.

August was wary of Aaron. The boy seemed off. Although August couldn't place it he just knew it. Why would a boy that volunteered, act in the arena th way he did. He acted humble, bit in a faux kind of way, as if he wasn't used to it and only played that part for the cameras. And also, he and Harlow, seemed a bit close for being simply allies.

August saw the way Harlow smiled up at Aaron while he spoke, and how she always seemed to touch him. What was she doing? Was she playing at something? August didn't understand. He thought about how she might have crush on him, but discarded the thought almost immediately. Harlow wouldn't be that stupid and fall in love with another tribute.
