"What did you just say?" she hissed in anger as she grabbed Louis from the collar of his shirt, and Louis looked at her in shock.

"What are you talking about?? What do you mean you are here for me?" her voice wavered as the grip on Louis:s collar slightly loosened.

"Did I not tell you to accept it... Why is it so hard for you to do as you are told?? And your little brother.. Hugo is outside??? LOUIS! OH GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!" she yelled in frustration while shaking Louis.

"I-..." she let out a shaky breath before she let go of Louis's collar.

"I came here by choice," She looked coldly at him as she stood in front of him, and Louis felt as if his whole world had just collapsed. All the things they went through and everything they had to endure...

"So... No. Come on, let's go, Mom, stop this. It isn't the time. Please, let's just go. We can start over, we can be happy... Please just come," he pleaded, feeling his eyes sting and his nose getting stuffy as his voice broke.

He reached out his hand to grab hers, desperately wanting her to say okay, and that this was just a prank.

But she didn't. Her eyes were filled with tears, but they weren't sad tears... No. They were frustration. Anger. Betrayal... Hatred even.

Louis felt his ears ring when she yelled for the guards. For a moment, he just stood there, unable to move. His limbs went numb and his heart was pounding against his ripcage. Every breath he took felt like daggers to his lung.

She didn't help him because she liked it. She liked this life. She liked her place. She... She...

His body was pushed to the ground and he felt the air gets knocked out of him as one of the traffickers smacked him into the floor, but nothing hurt more in that moment than the way his mother had just betrayed them.

"He is planning to escape, check his bag. Also, his little brother is outside, find him and take him back. Only punish this one," She ordered the guards that held him down, and they turned his bag upside down and completely emptied it of everything. The map fell alongside his belongings, and he knew it was the end for him.

"Would you look at this? He drew our fucking routes, he was planning to give them to the hunters. Oh, you are in fucking hell boy, you will wish you were dead I promise," the guy holding him down growled before he hit Louis's nape, knocking him out.

......................................................

The strong smell of rotten walls made Louis feel like throwing up as soon as he regained his consciousness. Even when he opened his eyes, he couldn't see anything. He was blindfolded, and his ankles and wrists burned in pain, he couldn't move them no matter how hard he tried.

"Is it true... Brother? Is it true?? You were really going to... To leave me there alone?" Hugo's angry voice came from the front, and Louis tilted his head in the direction of it. The blindfold was lifted, and when his eyes were adjusted to the light, he saw his little brother standing in front of him, with his mother next to him, smiling gently. Gary was there as well, standing next to Hugo.

His mother must have lied to Hugo... To keep him safe, at the expense of Louis's life. Louis knew if he denied it, both Hugo and him would get killed, so he just looked at the floor while biting the inside of his cheek very hard it started bleeding.

"... My baby, it is the truth... He told me himself. Come here, sweetheart..." his mother wrapped her arms around Hugo, trapping him in a hug, but he didn't wrap his arms back, his eyes were glued to his chained brother, unable to believe that he would do such a thing.

"I thought that you cared for me. I thought that you loved me. I was sure, you... You were always there to protect me... Why? WHY??" He pushed his mother's arms away and ran to Louis, grabbing his shoulders and forcefully making him look at him.

It took everything in Louis to not break down and just deny it all, but he so desperately wanted Hugo to survive, even if it meant that he will forever hate him.

And so he nodded ever so slightly, feeling the guilt burn his insides with every move. Hugo's hand dropped to his sides as he looked at his brother in shock, taking slow steps back before he fully turned around and ran to his mother's embrace.

"Hmmm... So that's that. Alright, Hugo, I'll give you the honor of taking your revenge. Here," Gary held out a gun to Hugo, and Hugo just looked at him terrified.

"I'm sure you want to get back at your brother. Take the gun and shoot him, make sure you don't hit his torso though," he kept the gun held out as he looked at Hugo expectantly.

Hugo looked at Gary, and then at the gun before looking at his mother, finally he looked at Louis, who was looking at the ground.

"I ca-"

"Nonsense! Of course you can. You hate him, he tried to kill you!" Gary shoved the gun into Hugo's hands and pushed him in Louis's direction.

Louis took a deep breath before he started right into his brother's eyes.
"Do it. They are right. I tried to use you. I..." his breath hitched in his throat, he knew he had to make it believable... But it was hard.

"I never cared for you. It was all for me. You were an idiot for believing that I could love someone like you. Look around you, you think there is anyone in this world who wouldn't do everything in their power to survive?" he scoffed, but then looked away, not wanting to see Hugo's reaction.

"N-no. You... Can't mean that," Hugo stuttered, the gun shaking in his little hands.

"But I do mean it. You are just proving my point," Louis lowly spat, mustering the best glare he could wear in that moment.

"See, he was just using you. Tell you what kiddo, if you pull the trigger, I'll let you stay with your mother. How does that sound hmm?" Gary chucked as Hugo lifted his shaky hands and pointed the gun at Louis. Louis closed his eyes and prepared himself for death.

It felt like forever before he felt his shoulder burn from the stinging pain as the bullet grazed his shoulder. He screamed in pain, the smell of his blood took over his senses as he started to feel dizzy. Hugo's unsteady breaths echoed in the room as he sobbed uncontrollably, shaking all over. Gary let out a disappointed sigh, but he let Hugo go with his mother after taking the gun from him.

After they were both out, he turned to Louis, who was trying so hard not to cry from pain, and smirked.

"You realize you committed treason, yeah? I could kill you ri-"

"Do it then. The fuck you waiting for? For me to beg for my life? You can go fuck yourself," Louis spat as he breathed heavily, sweat forming on his face.

"I never took you as someone who curses. That was a surprise, but anyways. I have a better, more entertaining way for you to die. GUYS! COME HERE!" a couple of traffickers entered the room and stood at the door.

"Take Louis and throw him near one of the monsters' dens,"
