After what felt like an eternity of weeping, Louis finally managed to calm down. Now feeling embarrassed by his sudden outburst, he couldn't look at any of the guys because of how ashamed he felt. He put up his hand in an attempt to wipe away the inky tear, but he was stopped by Tom, who placed a tissue in his hand instead.
"How about you come live with me? I bet Carlos would be overjoyed to have a brother, and I'm sure ____ will like you!" Ryan suggested as Louis wiped away his tears, and Louis wasn't sure if he meant it or if he was saying it out of pity.
"I don't think he would be overjoyed to have this," Louis pointed at his own face and body. "As a brother. If anything, he and your family will be terrified, you were terrified of me too when you first saw me,"
It was a kind gesture, and he appreciated it even if it seemed to be out of pi-
"I'm not asking out of pity. I like you now kid, we don't have to be related by blood to be considered a family. You know that right?" Ryan stressed as he gazed at Louis, both of his hands were holding Louis's shoulders firmly.
"... I have a family. Even if they hate me, I still want to get them out. I want to take my revenge, I don't want anyone else suffering the same way I did," Louis looked back at Ryan, trying to show how determined he was on his goal.
Even when deep down, that was all that he wanted. Even if he didn't admit it, he craved being loved. He craved having a loving family like this, but he couldn't bear the image of Hugo suffering the same, or maybe worse than him just because he failed to protect him as his elder brother.
"... I understand," Ryan sighed as he leaned back against the bed, making sure to pat Louis's head before retrieving his hand.
"But. If you change your mind, we will be staying here for 3 weeks. If you manage to get your brother, I will take you both home if you still wish to come with me," He added, closing his eyes and resting his head on the mattress behind him.
Tom just smiled at Louis before he exited the room, and Louis could hear him speaking with the other guy from before. Apparently, he was watching the area, and now it was time for them to switch.
Ian entered the room after a while, and he looked at Louis as soon as he stepped inside.
"Goddamn, even when I knew, it's still kind of weird seeing you like this," he laughed loudly."Thanks?" Louis looked at him confused and slightly annoyed by his loud laughs. Ian walked up to him and knelt to his eye level, looking intensely at his black eyes.
"Can you really see? Or like is it some night vision or something?" Ian asked as he looked over Louis's eyes.
"I can see just fine. Just better than before I guess. Can you get out of my personal space now?" Louis took a few steps back as he started to smell Ian's bad breath. Ian laughed as he took a few steps back.
"Sorry kid, I was just curious. Anyways, What's your name? Tom told me everything but it," he toned his voice down once he realized that Ryan was actually asleep and not just resting.
"Louis, my name is Louis," Louis responded shortly as he looked at Ryan for a moment before turning to the door. He had nothing to do here anymore, he needed to go find his brother.
"Where ya going?" Ian quickly stopped him.
"Back. I need to find my brother," Louis responded without looking at Ian, his hand touched the doorknob, and he turned it to open the door.
"I have a better plan if you really want to get revenge on them. I am a hunter," Ian mused as Louis finally turned to look at him, slightly shocked by the sudden revelation but nonetheless relieved.
"You are? What do I do?" Louis retrieved his hand and stepped back to where Ian was.
"Now we are talking. I'm sure you are familiar with a few of their bases. We have been trying to locate them for a while now, and who is better than someone who used to be with them?" he looked at Louis as if he was valuable.
"The boss would be overjoyed if you want to meet him. And then, you can stay with the hunters after all of this is done. You are doing it for your family, right? You will be safe with us," Ian offered, and Louis took a double look at Ryan as he thought over Ian's offer.
"How do I know he won't shoot me on the spot as soon as he sees me? I'm a mutant as far as he is concerned," Louis raised an eyebrow as he questioned.
"We share the same objective. What you are right now isn't something that you can control. As long as you are not a danger to innocent people, no one will shoot you," Ian affirmed, but Louis knew that it was a lie. If anyone saw him like this, they wouldn't even wait for him to speak before pulling the trigger.
"When are we meeting then?" Louis decided to play along, if this goes well, he won't have to worry about Hugo. If it doesn't go well, he can't die anyway. So really, there is nothing to lose.
"Now. I am supposed to meet him in 3 hours north of this abandoned village. There is an old grocery store there where we often meet for off-book missions," Ian pulled out a hand-drawn map from his bag and pointed at their meeting location.
"You know I can't die yeah?" Louis threatened.
"Yeah, why?"
"Just making sure you are aware that I can and will end you and your friend if anything goes wrong," Louis shrugged as Ian sweated a little, unsure how seriously he should take his threat.
"Don't worry, nothing will happen," he quickly retaliated in panic before putting away the map in his bag.
"Well then. Let's get moving kid," He laughed in a panicking tone before almost dashing out of the room. Louis shook his head and sighed before he followed him.
