Ryan looked warily at Louis, making sure he was a good distance away from ____. His gun was still in his bag at the other end of the room, so there was no way for him to get it without this... Thing hurting both of them.
Louis stood there, dumbfounded and unsure of what to do or what to say. He just looked at Ryan like a kid who was caught stealing candy from a store.
"W-who are you?" Ryan tried to sound rough, but his voice was shaking, and he shifted his weight from one leg to the other as he stared at Louis.
"Uh... I- well... I'm... My name is Louis," Louis took a few slow steps back, trying to let the man know he wasn't going to do them any harm if they don't hurt him.
Ryan stared at him in shock, unable to believe that a monster can speak coherently. He looked at Louis, who had his blood-covered hands half up in the air in what seemed to be a surrendering manner.
"What are you? What do you want? Why are you here?" his voice was gradually getting louder with each word coming out of his mouth, he took a few steps toward Louis in an attempt to make him get away further from his daughter. He wasn't sure what to do, but he would be damned if he let a monster touch his daughter.
Louis was getting more and more annoyed with his situation. He didn't move when Ryan started to take steps toward him, he stood tall and looked ahead at the man trying to threaten him.
"What am I doing here? Seriously? I spent hours cleaning that hospital to get my organs back, and what do you do? You sneak behind my back and steal my heart and now YOU are asking ME what I want!?" Louis was getting more and more aggressive, he was furious as he scowled at the man, who was now terrified out of his wits.
"Listen here, old man. If I wanted you dead, you wouldn't have woken up to begin with. Give me back my heart and I will leave peacefully," he held out his hand, frowning as Ryan took a few steps back and held out his arm in front of the girl.
"I... I can't do that." Ryan stuttered, finally realizing that the one standing in front of him was the boy whose heart is inside his daughter. Was he going to kill her to get it back?
"... Is that so?" Louis let his blood-covered hand fall to his side before he took a deep breath in. He could just kill them and take it back, but then he wouldn't be so different from the fuckers he just murdered.
"Please... You... You don't need it to survive." Ryan pleaded, hoping that Louis would just give it up.
"I spent all my life caring for others. I lost everything for them, and then I lost them. You are right. I don't need it, but it's still mine, and I'm done giving away parts of me. You stole it. Either give it back peacefully or I will take it back by force," Ryan felt his heart beating in his ears as Louis took another step toward them, glaring at them.
"Take mine instead if you really want a heart, but I can't give yours back. We already performed the surgery and my daughter can't live without it. Please, just this once... I-" he offered in a desperate attempt to keep his daughter alive.
"God... You know what? Where is hers?" Louis quickly cut him off, it felt as if Ryan was convinced that Louis was some heartless asshole with no empathy whatsoever. Well, he was heartless, and he was acting like an asshole for once, but that was beside the point.
"... You want hers? You do realise that we only did the surgery because it wasn't working properly," Ryan questioned before he looked at his daughter for a moment.
"An eye for an eye. A heart for a heart. I don't care if it's weak and rotten. I want it," Louis sighed impatiently before he looked at the girl who was still sleeping somehow. She seemed to be too unaware of what's happening around her, and it made Louis think about his life. If she was born into the traffickers, she wouldn't be able to sleep this soundly.
"You won't hurt us? I mean... Actually, just follow me," Ryan wanted to ask more questions, but he didn't want to anger the boy and make him regret his decision.
"As long as you don't try anything funny, we will both be fine," Louis responded in an uninterested tone as he followed Ryan out of the room, keeping a good distance between the two of them. He was aware that Ryan was still very suspicious of him, and he was fully expecting that Ryan was leading him to a trap of some sort.
"So... The doctor who did the surgery dealt with the post-surgery related shit. He knows where the organ is, but I need to ask him," Ryan looked at Louis carefully for a moment.
"You can come with me kid, but we both need to do our best to convince them you aren't a threat. Your situation is... Unique," He was less scared now and more... Sympathetic with Louis. He felt bad for him, and he felt horrible about taking his heart, but who would have known that he could still be alive after losing it? Or half alive...
"Tom, Ian. I have something to tell you guys, but I need you to promise not to reach for your weapons yeah?" Ryan said as soon as he opened the door. The two guys were slightly drunk as they looked back at Ryan confused.
"Wut? Ah. Weit..." Tom drunkly grabbed his water bottle and judged down the water in an attempt to sober up. He placed a hand to his temple before he started rubbing it, his face was slightly red.
"What's wrong, man?" He took a deep breath before he question Ryan in the most serious tone he could muster while drunk.
"We have a unique situation..." Ryan stepped aside to show Louis, but the two men were still looking at the floor dazed. Louis stood there awkwardly, waiting for them to react.
"Yeah? Just say what's wroooong" Ian whined as he sprawled his arms on the table and rested his head on it. Ryan looked at Louis... Both staring at each other awkwardly and unsure of what to do.
"Guys. Where is ____'s heart?" he cleared his throat before he asked.
"Whyy??" Tom groaned before he put his head on the table as well and started hiccuping. Ryan sighed before he walked up to him and placed a hand on his back
"Because the owner of the heart you gave to ____ wants it. Where is it?" he questioned again, now patting Tom's back firmly.
"Ugh... It's in the same container... My bag," he shook his back to get Ryan away from him. Ryan sighed before he stood up and went to where Louis was still standing awkwardly.
"Let's go get it. They are too drunk," he placed a firm hand on Louis's shoulder before he went back to the other room.
Louis was shocked that Ryan touched him like that, he thought that he viewed him as a plaque and wanted to be as far away from him as possible. Isn't that why he was cooperating?
"Don't overthink it. He probably didn't even notice," L shrugged Louis's worries.
"Right,"
"What do you plan to do with it kid?" Ryan snapped him out of his thoughts as he pulled the container from Tom's bag.
"... Put it back?"
