Dominik stood in the doorway as people flooded in, filling up the seats. His gaze combed the crowd, eyes scanning the room, and then, a familiar face commanded his attention.

There she was, radiant in the dim ambiance.

Blocking her avatar's luminous appearance, he observed her natural features, how striking her brown skin looked in her lace top, how her short skirt hugged her in all the right places.

As she leaned in, engaged in animated conversation with Tanisha, the show began and her eyes gleamed with enthusiasm as she watched the dancers clad in skillfully designed outfits that left little to the imagination.

He thought she was just as gorgeous. A work of art all on her own.

He thought Attila had impeccable taste.

Somehow they always seemed to share the same preference when it came to women.

And what a woman she was.
Illyana stands up for herself now, he has noticed. Something he knew a much younger version of her had trouble with, and he marveled at how much she had grown since.

Her laughter rang out in the sea of noise and, lost in his admiration, Dominik remained rooted in his spot, reluctant to tear his gaze away from her.

It's always in these moments that he realizes the depth of his attraction to her.

The desire that lingered beneath the surface, he knew, was not just carnal.

He wanted to hold her and comfort her. He wanted to protect her.

He was never supposed to feel this way.

Attila had warned him.

The day he had found out Attila's secret hobby, Dominik had become even more fixated on unraveling the mystery as well, though he knew he had to tread carefully.

The girl he had met at fifteen had now grown into a woman, and she had no recollection of their curious past.

Knowing Attila could be after a lot more than he led on, Dominik aimed to help, but after seeing Illyana again, learning who she had become, and spending so much time with her, there was no way he could have stopped himself from falling victim to her charm, just like Attila had.

She was so beautiful, so intelligent, and yet still inside she was holding on to a side of her so innocent he couldn't fight the overwhelming urge to nurture her.

Attila had warned him. More than once.

They were so close, almost brothers, and they had spent their entire lives together. They had built an empire together.
