Josh and Jocelyn awoke with the rising sun, ready to face the day ahead. As they prepared themselves for the unknown, Jocelyn's heart fluttered with nerves, uncertain of what awaited her at her new school. The thought of encountering bullies sent shivers down her spine, for she despised their cruel ways. Suddenly, a gentle knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Jocelyn, are you awake?" called out her protective brother, Josh. "Yes," she replied, her voice filled with a mix of apprehension and determination. "When you're ready, come out," Josh instructed, his voice laced with concern. "Alright," Jocelyn responded, summoning her courage.
Emerging from her bedroom, Jocelyn joined her brother in the hallway. "Are you both ready?" inquired Jim, their dad, with a hint of excitement in his voice. Josh and Jocelyn nodded in unison, silently conveying their readiness for the day's adventures. "Well then, let us embark on this journey together," Jim declared, his words infused with camaraderie.
Jocelyn silently prayed that she would be spared from the torment of bullies. They entered the school building, navigating through hallways and classrooms, until it was time for lunch. However, Jocelyn's anxiety grew, causing her appetite to vanish. She sat at the lunch table, feeling queasy and unable to eat.
Meanwhile
Josh encountered Sammy, a fellow student. "Hey, don't you have a little sister?" Sammy inquired, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. Josh nodded, wondering where this conversation was headed. "I think she's in the bathroom, feeling unwell," Sammy revealed, concern etched on his face. Josh swiftly removed his headphones and asked Sammy to keep an eye on his belongings. Sammy nodded, understanding the urgency in Josh's eyes. A grateful smile played on Josh's lips as he hurriedly left the cafeteria, determined to find Jocelyn.Rushing towards the bathroom, Josh's ears caught the sound of retching. Without hesitation, he knew it was Jocelyn. "Jocelyn, are you in here?" he called out, his voice filled with worry. Jocelyn finished flushing the toilet and emerged from the stall, her eyes meeting her brother's concerned gaze. "Hey, are you okay?" Josh asked, his voice filled with genuine concern. Jocelyn nodded, her face pale but determined.
"Are you sure you're feeling alright?" Josh pressed, his worry refusing to subside. Jocelyn nodded once more, her silent reassurance comforting them both.
Together, they walked out of the bathroom, their bond unbreakable. Returning to the bustling cafeteria, they were greeted by Sammy's friendly presence. "Hey," Sammy greeted Josh warmly. "So, this is your sister?" he asked, his eyes shifting towards Jocelyn. "Yes," Josh confirmed proudly. Jocelyn mustered a smile, her nerves slowly dissipating. "Hi, Jocelyn. I'm Sammy.
It's a pleasure to meet you," Sammy introduced himself, extending a hand in friendship. Jocelyn's smile widened, her fears momentarily forgotten. "It's nice to meet you too," she replied, grateful for the warmth and kindness that surrounded her.
In a hesitant tone, Sammy approaches Jocelyn, unsure if she would be interested in attending the school dance with him. Jocelyn's face lights up with a smile as she responds, "I would absolutely love to." Delighted by her answer, Sammy confirms their plans for the evening, promising to see her later. However, before parting ways, Jocelyn interrupts, suggesting they exchange phone numbers.
Eagerly, Sammy agrees, and Jocelyn swiftly jots down her digits.
"I'll give you a call tonight," Sammy assures her, reciprocating by writing down his own number. Grinning, Jocelyn agrees, expressing her approval.
Meanwhile
Josh, who had been eavesdropping, interjects, "You're lying," as Jocelyn walks away. Ignoring his comment, Jocelyn continues on her way to meet up with her brother, and the two of them make their way home
