Chapter 32

Since that day, I successfully caught his attention by messing with him. I intentionally did that, to make him think about me. I always tease him, irritate him, and most importantly flirt with him. Ganun ang naging routine ko sa loob ng ilang linggo. Heck! I even spend 3 billion, just to date him for one night dang it!

I did everything I could, but weeks have passed and he still don't remember me. So that day when I took him to the basement,  I intentionally let him saw the painting. Pinadeliver ko mula sa Amerika ang painting na ginawa ko, papunta dito sa Pinas. I was hoping that through that painting, he will remember what happened to us before. After that, I didn't go to school for 1 month to let him think and make him miss me. Also, I disappeared for 1 month because of a treatment.

I was diagnosed with a heart disease and I was having a hard time, it took me 1 month to recover.

Sadly, when I came back things changed. It didn't turned out like what I expected. A girl named Roxanne took him away from me and the rest is history.

Nabalik ako sa realidad, nang bumalik sa normal ang tunog ng aparatu. Nakahinga ako ng maluwag, matapos bumalik ang heartbeat ni Verzine.

Sa wakas nakarating din kami sa Hospital. Kaagad siyang inilagay sa stretcher, at sinugod sa emergency room. Sumunod ako, pero hindi na ako hinayaan pang makapasok sa loob.

"You can wait here Ma'am."

Nanghihina akong umupo sa waiting area, sa labas ng operating room. Kasalukuyang inooperahan si Verzine. I heavy sigh, hindi ako mapakali sa upuan kaya tumayo ako. It's been 2 hours, at hindi pa din lumalabas ang doctor. I was pacing back and forth, when someone called me from behind.

"Rye... Is that you?"

Dahan dahan akong lumingon, para tingnan kung sino iyon. He's wearing a white doctor suit and eye glasses. Madaming nagbago sa kanya but one thing is for sure, he's still the Kapre I used to know. He's taller than before!

"Yes, It's me Gideon!"

Kaagad siyang lumapit sakin ng may ngiti sa labi. Nahawa ako sa ngiti niya, saglit kong nakalimutan ang kinakaharap na problema.

"Hey it's been a while, how are you?"

He asked nang tuluyang makalapit sa akin.

"I'm fine. How about you?"

"I'm doing great! As you can see, I'm a doctor now!"

He respond bago ako ayaing umupo.

"Kamag-anak mo ba ang nasa loob?"

He asked, while eyeing the door of the operating room. I didn't want to explain, I just nodded.

"Anyway, how's your child?"

I was stunned when he asked about my daughter. I almost forgot that he knows it, because he was there with me, when the doctor announced it before.

"She's doing well."

I answered with a small smile. Magsasalita pa sana siya, when a nurse called him.

"I have to go back to work Rye, let's catch up some other time. Here's my number btw."

Ngumiti at tumango lang ako bilang sagot, bago tanggapin ang calling card ni Gideon. This guy didn't change at all, he still love giving his number. I chuckled with that thought.

Pagka alis ni Gideon, ang syang pagdating naman ng Mama ni Verzine. She's crying so hard, but slowly stop when she saw me. Her eyes grew and hurriedly run towards me.

"Hailey iha, it's really you! I thought, I was just hallucinating!"

She said before hugging me tightly. Naestatwa ako sa sobrang gulat. I didn't expect that she still remember me. I was so young  when I last met her!

"I heard that your the one, na kasama ng anak ko inside the ambulance. Thank you for being by his side."

She said while wiping her tears.

"No worries po."

Sagot ko nang makarecover sa pagkagulat, sa kanyang presensiya. Verzine's mother hold my hand tightly.

"I hope he'll be okay Hailey."

"He will tita."

I responded.

Makalipas ang tatlong oras, lumabas na din sa wakas ang doctor. Kaagad tumayo at lumapit ang Mama ni Verzine para pakinggan ang sasabihin ng doctor. Tumayo din ako at kabadong sumunod.

"The operation is successful."

"Pareho kaming napahinga ng maluwag ng Mama ni Verzine, after hearing the good news."

"Thank God!"

His mother said in tears.

"But there's a bad news. The damage in his head is quite severe. We successfully stitched the wound on top of his head, but it's quite deep. There's a big possibility that he will be in coma."

Nanlumo ako nang marinig iyon, mula sa doctor. I hug Verzine's mother when she bursts into tears. I comforted her, like what she did to me before when I was young. 

"Verzine is strong tita."

"He will be okay soon"

"He will wake up... And I'm sure he don't want to see you crying."

Pagpapatahan ko sa kanya, habang hinihimas ang likod niya.

"I'll just call his dad, I'll be back iha."

Paalam nito matapos kumalma. I nodded and watch her leave. While watching her back, I can't help but to wonder, if she knows that I am his son's ex-girlfriend.

I wonder if Verzine told her. Noon kasi, I wanted it private and I wasn't ready to meet his family as his girlfriend. I was scared of their reaction before, because I was poor.

3 days have passed and Verzine is still unconscious, sa loob din ng tatlong araw, I confirmed na walang ideya ang nanay niya sa lahat ng nangyari samin noon.
Nabanggit kasi nito sakin kahapon, na nagulat siya ng hindi na ako bumibisita sa bahay nila, maging si Yaya Linda daw ay nagtaka. Ang sabi daw nito nang tinanong niya, ang huling bisita ko daw ay nung gumawa kami ng school assignment ni Verzine.

I actually blushed when she said that, dahil hindi naman talaga school assignment, ang ginawa namin ni Verzine nung araw na yun.

Kasalukuyan akong nasa kwarto ni Verzine. Nagvolunteer akong magbantay ngayon, nang mabanggit sakin ng Mama niya, na may kailangan itong asikasuhin.

Kanina, bumisita ang pinsan at ang mga kaibigan niya. They are shock when they saw me here, I guess they didn't expect to see me. I was glad though, because I didn't need to explain my identity to them.

They don't know that I'm his ex-girlfriend, but they do know me as balibag girl, the one who's messing with their precious president. It's less hussle to explain things, because they know that I'm flirting with him.

Gusto pa ngang mag volunteer sa pagbabantay, ng pinsan ni Verzine na si River, but then, I told him na isa lang ang pwedeng magbantay, at maraming ligaw na kaluluwa sa hospital. Of course he got scared, kaya hindi na din nagpumilit pa.

Tinakot ko talaga siya because I want to be the one, who'll take care of Verzine. Gusto ko din kasi na pagmulat ng mga mata niya, ako ang makikita niya.

Apat na araw na ang lumipas, at hindi pa din siya gumigising. I miss him so much.

I stare at his perfectly handsome face. Ilang araw na ito sa hospital, pero hindi man lang nabawasan ang kapogian. Unfair!

I stare at him for so long before planting a kiss him on his forehead.

"I miss you so much... Please wake up. You have to wake up and remember me, please... Mi amore." 

I pleaded with my eyes closed and I got shocked, when I opened my eyes. He's awake! And he's looking at me with eyes full of tears!
