EPILOGUE

Verzine's POV: 

"Here comes the bride!"

The door's church slowly opened. My tears fall as soon as I laid my eyes on her. God! She's so beautiful!

"Congratulation Son."

Dad whispered beside me. I smile while keeping my eyes to her. She's walking down the aisle, with baby bump on her tummy. Gideon, her brother is also walking beside her. This is our second wedding, but still... I can't believe I'm marrying her after everything we've been through. I can't help but to reminisce the past. 

I asked my mother to stop the car, when I saw a little girl soaking wet because of the heavy rain. 

"Let's help her Mama." 

My mother nodded. I push a button to open the window, sabay sigaw to her but it seems like she didn't hear me. Malakas din kasi talaga ang ulan. I took the umbrella at the back seat and opened the door. Lumabas ako ng sasakyan and walk straight to her. That's when I first met her. 
She looked so fragile, with her swollen eyes. Who made her cry..? I'll punish them. 

That night, she fell in my arms and I don't know why... But I got scared that she won't open her eyes anymore. We took her home. 

"How is she Mama..?" 

I asked, pagpasok ko ng guest room. Kakatapos lang siyang bihisan ng damit ni Mama.  

"Go get a towel and basin darling. She have a high fever." 

Utos ni Mama. I didn't waste any seconds at kaagad sumunod. Matapos nun, I asked my mother to let me take care of her. I stayed up all night wiping her with towel, and check her temperature. I watched her sleep at bahagya pakong nakaidlip but I woke up when she talked while sleeping. She's having a nightmare. 

"No... That's not true!" 

Paulit ulit niyang bulong, while she was crying. She's also sweating, I wipe the sweats on her forehead and the tears in the corner of her eyes. and then, I caress her hair. 

"Everything will be okay... I am here." 

I whispered in her ears. For some reasons... She calm down. I smiled. You make want to take care of you. I won't make you cry... Or that's what I thought. 

I didn't know that I was hurting her unintentionally. Naging manhid ako. We became best friends and I took her for granted. I was being dense, I didn't notice her feelings. Hanggang sa hindi kami magkita ng isang linggo, because of my school field trip. I missed her. I swear while I was way... All I think about is her, but I was too dumb to realize that I already fell in love with my best friend. I didn't realize it until that day when I showed up at her door holding souvenirs in my hands. 

"What took you... What took you so long..? 

I stiffened as those words give me butterflies in my stomach. Her longing eyes made my eyes shine as my heart beat fast, while her arms around me warms my soul. When I recovered I whispered. 

"I miss you too... Rye." 

I know in that moment... Something within me changed, I just couldn't name it. 

One month have passed. Within those weeks. I realized, I am catching feelings for her, but I wasn't braved enough to admit it to myself. Until she confessed. 

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!"

It made me silent. My heart beat fast as I realized. I fell for her. Pero dahil sa takot na, I just misheard her...I pretend dumb. 

"You love me because I'm your best friend."

Of course she got mad. Nagsagutan kami until she say...

"Like what I've said, I don't want to be your best friend. I want more than that, it's either you'll make me your girlfriend or you will be my boyfriend.
