"Aspen Rose Carter! I need you down here now." I hear my mamas sing song voice.
"Yes mama I am coming."
Of course mama needs me as soon as I start undressing. Buttoning my dress back up I start looking for where I tossed my hair tie. My room is so colorful it's hard to spot where my hair band flew to.
Finally giving up I grab another one out of the box on top of my dresser. I rebraid my hair using the light from the lightening of the storm to see by. The thunder is so loud when it comes it shakes the house. Even after it stops my teeth feel like they are chattering from the vibration.
I run down the stairs as quick as I can hoping the storm passes soon.
"Yes mama?" I quickly look around the house looking for my moms red hair.
I see her walk back into the house with some plants from the front porch. She looks like she just jumped into the lake fully dressed.
"This storm looks really bad. Your dad and brother went to help some of the men tie down things so they won't get blown away. Do you mind going to the stables and make sure the horses are all secure? You know how your brother can be forgetful sometimes and I don't want him to get into anymore trouble." she ask me with such pleading eyes I can't so no.
"Of course mama. Let me grab my raincoat and boots."
As I slip my rain gear on I can't help but smile. My mom is always protecting us from ourselves. My brother, Birch, and I are always slipping up in minor ways but mom is always there to make it right before it goes bad. I don't know how she does it but I am so grateful she does.
"Bye mama! I will be back as quickly as possible." I yell to her as I head out the door.
"Be careful my love. Go with happiness."
I don't remember the last time it's rained this hard. Sometimes the rain comes down like sheets. I really wish I had grabbed a flashlight. The lightening is keeping it bright enough to make it safely I think though.
I almost wish it was warmer and I was barefoot so I could feel the mud squish between my toes as I walk.
Approaching the stables I can already tell the main door isn't closed all the way. I go to push the door closed then I think better of it and go inside to make sure that all the stalls are all locked.
When I get to the fourth stall I notice it is not locked. I start pulling the stall door closed when someone grabs my wrist.
I feel all the blood drain out of my body. Nobody should be here right now.
"Who is it? Who has my arm?" I yell as I try to jerk my arm back but their hold is too tight.
I feel the hand release my wrist.
"Sorry. I am so sorry. You scared me. I am Peter one of the dauntless fence guards" I hear a deep voice respond. Its a very nice strong deep voice. Can voices be good looking because this one sounds good looking.
"What are you doing in our stables?" I try to sound older and stronger then I am. I don't think anyone would hear my screams over the storm.
"Can I come out of this stall? Will you unlock it please?" he sounds nice but without being able to see him I can't tell how scared I should be.
"Not till you tell me what you are doing here." I don't know why but I stand taller and try to look mean even though he can't see me.
"I am not here to hurt you I swear. I was checking on some things when the storm started and I found this horse wandering around looking scared so i brought it back." It sounds believable. I am here because my mom and I were worried this would happen.
