Sophie's POV
It was Monday. The day had gone by really fast and soon it was time for the first rehearsal of the play. Everyone met up in auditorium. I hadn't realized how many people there were, the group included tech, the actors, and under studies.
"Welcome! I'll be handing everyone the books that have the lines that you'll have to memorize. Now for the actors and actresses there will be a few dance routines that you'll have to memorize, especially our Cinderella and our prince," he paused for a moment and looked at me and Fitz. "And costumes and props will be worked on Saturday rehearsals!" He quickly explained.
" So I'll le you all skim over everything and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask," everyone was handed the books and I looked through the book, finding the dance scene, the fairy godmother scene, and the kiss scene. I don't even know why but I blushed at that. I couldn't believe that Fitz and I will be kissing in the play.
"Has everyone read over it?" He asked after 5 minutes or so. Everyone nodded their heads.
"All right great, everyone get on the stage, tech crew you can go behind the curtains and figure out lights, music, and stuff," Dex gave me a fist bump before he followed the rest.
"Now understudies, I expect you all to pay attention. If for any reason our actors or actresses are not there on opening night, I need to depend on you guys to steal the show," He directed. "Now let's flip to the first page, for now start reading the lines aloud and we'll see how things go from there. Begin."
When I read my lines I stumbled a bit and apparently spoke to quietly. It was only the first day and it was already being difficult.
"Let's take a break. Let's meet back here in 5 minutes," everyone dispersed around the school, grabbing a drink of water or going outside for a breath.
"Hey Sophie!" I heard Fitz call behind me.
"Hey Fitz," I said.
"So how did you think of rehearsal so far?" Fitz asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
"I'm terrible, I can't read simple lines and can't muster enough power to speak loudly for everyone to hear," I whined. He placed a hand on his shoulder, a reassuring smile on his lips.
"Don't pressure yourself, the first rehearsal isn't even over yet. You have months to perfect it, didn't you notice everyone stuttered on their lines? Don't put so much weight on your shoulders," he soothed. I smile.
"Thanks Fitz," he smiled and pulled me in a hug. My heart raced and my cheeks turned red as we soon pulled apart.
"No problem, and if you'd like you could come over to my house so we can go over a few scenes together." Was Fitz seriously inviting me to his house? I couldn't believe it! Just a few weeks ago or so he had never noticed me but now he's inviting me over to his house?!
"I'll have to check in with my parents, but I'm sure I can," he smiled.
"Great!"
"We could also go over some scenes with Biana as well," I offered. His smile dropped a little and he pursed his lips and nodded slowly.
"Sure. But maybe most of the time we could work on scenes that involve our characters?" Was he kind of saying he wanted to be alone with me. Maybe Biana was right. What if Fitz did have a crush on me? I shook the thought away and looked at the time.
"We should probably head back now," and we both made our way back to the auditorium, finding almost everyone there. We waited for a few more minutes until everyone returned and we started from the beginning, so we got used to reading the scenes.
I had talked more loudly than before and I stumbled on my words a bit less. All thanks to the helpful words Fitz had given me earlier.
Once rehearsal as over I met up with Dex and had already gotten the okay to go Fitz's house for rehearsing.
"Sophie, we were you earlier when we were on our break? I was looking everywhere for you," Dex said.
"I was with Fitz," he rolled his eyes.
"Again with Wonderboy," he muttered under his breath.
"What do you mean 'again with Wonderboy?'" I asked.
"I mean I'll I've been hearing about ever since you signed up for the play is wonderboy this, wonderboy that. It's like you totally forgot about us the past week," he said.
"Dex, are you jealous?" I asked, placing a hand on his shoulder which he immediately shrugged off.
"How could I not? It's like I have been invisible to you and the only person you see is Fitz!"
"Dex-"
"Sophie save it." he walked in a different direction and I couldn't help but feel mad and sad. Dex was my best friend, but I still didn't see why he was making such a big deal out of it. Fitz was one of my friends, sure I had a crush on him but it wasn't like I was talking about him 24/7.
I put my hood on, lowered my head and made my way home.
Fitz's POV (short)
I headed down the school stairs, Biana on my right side. I noticed Sophie and Dex and they didn't look too happy. Dex had walked away seeming unhappy and Sophie stood their, soon putting on her hood and walking home.
I didn't want to say anything, in case Dex and Sophie had gotten in a fight so I thought I should text her when she cools off.
I was confused about my feelings. Sophie was an amazing girl. She was gorgeous, talented, kind, thoughtful, and intelligent.
Even though Sophie was my friend, I kind of wanted her to be a bit more than that. Then I realized.
Did I have a crush on Sophie?
