I didn't always like reading.
I never understood why people liked it.
But I was different then.
Back when I was younger, I wasn't in need of an escape.
But, things change.
As we get older, our vision slowly becomes clear.
With age, we lose the oh-so-lovely gift of childhood innocence.
At a certain point, we are faced with the most terrifying thing known to humans;
Reality.
It shows the world in its true colors.
Though humans seem strong,
Not all of them are able to face reality with a brave smile.
So, the next best thing is an escape.
It is only a temporary pause from the evils of this world.
But an escape keeps people sane.
Some choose to deafen the sounds of the world with music.
Others pour their sorrows out onto paper.
I chose to dive into another world every time I turn a page.
Entailing myself in stories that seem impossible.
In reality, many things are impossible.
But nothing is impossible in the pages of a book.
While the world is exploding into chaos,
I'm sitting quietly in my bed reading,
Trying to disappear from this place.
