We were inseparable when we were younger,
Always clinging to each other saying goodbye.'
Neither had a sister,
So we adopted each other,
Forming our own sisterhood.
Our love for each other grew over time,
Hours spent on the phone talking
And playing our favorite games together.
Not a single secret between us.
Yet something shifted.
An unspoken force pulling us apart.
The calls became sparse and
Soon stopped completely.
We didn't speak for years
But memories of us played in my head
Like home movies.
And fate brought us together again,
It brought my sister back to me.
When I saw your beautiful freckled face again,
It was no longer the face of a girl
But the face of a woman.
I smiled and embraced you,
Delighted to feel you in my arms again
But you stiffed at my touch,
As if I was a stranger.
When we talked,
Your eyes glazed over with boredom
And I wilted.
Who is this person?
Where is my sister?
Please tell me,
I miss her.
