"...Do we really have to walk with her?" Sawyer whispered to Teddy nervously, glancing at Eve.

Teddy, Dora, Sawyer, and Eve were all walking back from the school to Teddy and Eve's neighborhood in Middlewood. While Dora and Teddy weren't too bothered by the intimidating aura that seemed to constantly emanate from Eve, mainly due to Dora typically being unbothered by everything and Teddy being used to Eve's presence, Sawyer, on the other hand, seemed terrified.

Teddy just gave a small nod. The one downside of her AAC app was that she couldn't really whisper, meaning that Eve would hear whatever Teddy had to say.

While I certainly wouldn't let Eve in my house for Rain's safety, just walking together should be fine, Teddy thought. She hasn't really done anything yet... Looking at it differently, aren't we kind of being the mean ones here by whispering about her in front of her? I'm sure Sawyer didn't mean anything but...

Eventually, the girls came in front of Teddy's house. Teddy paused and pulled out her phone, quickly typing something in.

"Here we are, my house," the AAC app typed out.

Eve grunted a quick goodbye to Teddy as she continued to her own house, which was next door, and Sawyer's tensed shoulders seemed to relax at that. Dora just gave Eve a small "adios", which Eve didn't respond to.

Teddy put her phone back into her tote bag and fished out her keys, before opening the door. She led her friends inside, before closing and locking the door.

"Hi, Mr. Waters," Sawyer greeted as she spotted Teddy's dad in the living room, watching television as he folded laundry.

"Oh, Teddy, you brought friends?" Teddy's dad asked as he looked up to see his daughter and the two other girls with her.

Teddy nodded, putting her keys back in the tote bag and about to use sign language to introduce her friends when Sawyer introduced herself and Dora.

"I'm Sawyer and this is Dora," Sawyer said brightly, gesturing first to herself and then to Dora. "We're freshmen just like Teddy."

"Nice to meet you," Teddy's dad replied. "As you know, I'm Mr. Waters, Teddy's dad."

"Nice to meet you too!" Sawyer replied back.

Teddy signed a different question to her dad instead, asking where Rain was. Usually, Rain could be found in the living room, but there was no sign of Rain there now.

"Oh, Rain's up in your room," Teddy's dad replied.

"It's raining in your room?" Sawyer asked, alarmed. "But it wasn't raining when we were outside."

Teddy's dad held back a chuckle as he explained, "No, Rain is the name of Teddy's cat."

"Oh, that makes more sense," Sawyer said, laughing a bit at her own mistake. She turned to Teddy. "So is this why you asked whether we're allergic to cats earlier?"

Teddy nodded in response, before turning to her dad and signing a thank you.

"You're welcome," Mr. Waters replied. "Just make sure to take out the trash later!"

Upon signing back that she will, Teddy went up the stairs, turning her head back at the landing to make sure her friends were following her. Satisfied upon confirming that, she continued heading up before going down the hallway and opening the door to her room. She shook her head fondly upon seeing her cat napping on the bed.

We let him go anywhere in the house but on the beds and he chooses to sleep here? Teddy thought. Well, I suppose I can make an exception just this once. I'm not cruel enough to wake a sleeping cat so suddenly.
