-Amily's POV-

I can barely eat breakfast the next morning as I anxiously await my eval. I'm not expecting a high score but I don't want a horribly low one either. Mags is kind enough to teach me some breathing exercises after breakfast to help calm my nerves. 9:00am rolls around and I head down to the training center.

I don't hear them call anyone's name until mine is called about 40ish minutes into the evals. I stand up and make my way to the doors as confidently as I can. Walking into the room, I notice the game makers are barely paying attention and probably drunk.

"Amily Tides, District 4"

A few of the game makers glance at me but most don't look up from their drinks. I head over to the rope first and tie a few complex knots I know and then constructed a simple snare I learned the day before. I still had 3 minutes left so I grabbed a belt of knives and began doing the obstacle course. I wasn't the most graceful but I didn't trip and managed to hit a few dummies with my knives as I ran. Finally, I thanked the game makers and headed upstairs for lunch.

After lunch, Valencia worked on my etiquette for the interviews. I hate heels so much! I feel like I'm going to trip every few steps.
"Straighten your posture!" Valencia quipped. "Stand taller."

After 3 hours of Valencia's lessons of torture I sat down with Mags and Finnick to practice interview questions. Valencia had mentioned earlier that she wanted me to play the sexy and mysterious angle but Mags and Finnick were hesitant. Eventually we settled on polite and charming.

"So Amily," Finnick stated in a horrible Caesar impression. "Tell me about being the mayor's daughter in District 4."

As much as I wanted to remark that I seemed more like the mayor's roommate than his daughter, I knew I had to play charming and polite to get sponsors.

"Well Caesar my father is one of the best people I know. He adopted me when I was 7 after my parents passed and he's been a father to me ever since," you reply.
"Good answer Amily," Mags chimes in.

"Now Amily," Finnick stated. "Do you have a special someone waiting for you at home? A love interest perhaps?"
"Oh no Caesar nothing like that!" you say as you fake a laugh. "I am very much single."
Finnick weirdly smiles at this answer. I guess that means I answered well.

"I think you are prepared," sighed Mags. "Time for dinner."

After dinner Dorian, Finnick, Mags, Valencia and I, as well as our prep teams and stylists, gathered around the TV in the lounge to watch the scores be announced. Most of the scores were expected. With Herman and Rocky getting 10s and Saph and Thea setting 9s. The pair from 3 both scored bellow 6.

"Now for Dorian Ripp from district 4. He has earned a score of 10!" Caesar exclaimed. The room erupted in congratulations and Dorian looked elated.

"Amily Tides with a score of 7!" chimed Caesar. A 7 wasn't super high but Amily was happy with it. Her head swam with anxiety and she excused herself to go to bed.

AN: Interview is the next chapter and then we are into the arena! Also I'm not sure whether I like using first, second, or third person perspective when writing Amily so if y'all have a preference please lmk. I think I prefer first person for other characters.
Also I know these chapters have been short so I'm trying to publish a few a day!
