Day 16: Sunset

Keith knew that Shiro had ordered everyone to be with their families and take time for themselves, but his mind had been running pretty wild like a river lately, so he decided to just stand on his lion alone to get rid of them. And it had actually worked. During sunset Lance had come in for some support for his date, and a few minutes later Pidge arrived. To be honest, he didn't expect her at that hour, dressed like her in their new cartoon.

"I wasn't expecting you here," he said, stroking his thick, soft wolf fur as she sat looking slightly sad next to him.

"I knew where to find you and... I need to talk to you": she admitted in a snort.

"Has Kosmo stolen your computer yet? I'm sorry but he didn't bring anything to my room, you'll have to look for it somewhere else": he laughed, to then notice her serious and slightly downcast frown.

"Oh, um... sorry... what did you want to tell me?": His voice became serious again after an embarrassed cough.

"Today Lance and Allura had a date...": she exhaled, her voice cracking slightly and her breathing too slow.

"I know, Lance came earlier": he pointed out: "Is something wrong? Romelle told me you were with the girls all afternoon"

"No, everything is absolutely fine!": she smiled, clapping and chasing away the silence of the desert, while the echo resounded on the rocky walls of the canyons. However, as she said this, she could see small tears forming in her eyes, her lips trembled and she shook her head. Keith lowered his gaze, moving closer to her and pulling her into a hug. She started to cry.

He didn't know what had happened, maybe something very bad for making Pidge cry like that, but he honestly didn't care. He cared that she was happy and that she felt better.

"No, it's okay... seriously...": she sobbed, clutching heis uniform and burying her face in her chest.

"It's not all right if you cry, Pidge. What's wrong?": He asked again, wrapping his arms around her and whispering some sweet words from her to calm her down, rubbing her back.

"No I... I'm happy for them... I'm happy for him, he finally has his love life that he always wanted with her but... I just... I don't know...": she admitted, trying to wipe away the tears that were falling from her eyes and wet her cheeks. She wondered why she had that burning sensation in her chest as if she had just been stabbed and she was bleeding to death.

Keith looked at her for a moment, first confused and then realizing.

"Oh... I'm sorry...": he admitted, not knowing what he could do at that moment. He hadn't expected it given how she was dealing with him all the time, then thinking more deeply and noting that it was actually very possible.

"You always did a lot for him, didn't you?": he asked, while she didn't stop crying. He kept talking only when he heard her nod.

"Romelle told me that you sold that dealer a video game that you wanted for a long time for Allura's dress": he continued to whisper to her: "It was very nice of you, but sometimes you also have to think a little about yourself, don't you think?"

"He wouldn't have played with me anymore anyway. I invited him to my house this morning to see our new cartoon but he refused because he had to ask Allura out": she explained: "And then I get bored when I play video games alone"

"Did you ever think you could play a little with me?": Her eyes widened at his words, feeling a slight tinge of warmth on her cheeks. Keith was looking at an unfamiliar dot, completely red in the face waiting for an answer, and Pidge could feel his pulse quickening with every passing second.

"Do you like video games? I... I would never have said that...": she blushed even more with embarrassment. She felt like a bad friend for never really asking Keith whether or not he liked video games, also because he never mentioned them either.

"I have... I have in my father's shack many old videogames like Pac-man, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Mario and others...": Keith blushed a little more: "Maybe tonight you and I could stay there and play some if you don't have commitments with your family...?"

"Oh... um...": she looked around, feeling her cheeks burn suddenly, as her heartbeat accelerated: "I... um... My parents stay at the Garrison until late and N7 is coming to sleep with us tonight and I'm scared about what she and Matt could do so...if it's ok for you...yeah...that would be great..."

"Okay then...": Keith smiled, looking back at the sun which had almost completely set by now, but as he was about to get up he felt something tug at his hand.

"No wait!": she exclaimed, blushing realizing what she had done, and then speaking more shyly: "Can we stay here a little longer?"

"Sure": he smiled: "We'll leave when you're ready..."
