CHAPTER 16: NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT

All of us were in the forest as we were putting some stuff back onto the truck. Me and Keigo went up to Riley, who was checking if his phone has some messages. "You don't look happy at all" Keigo said. "Riley, are you ok?" I asked. "I was hoping that my mom would've called by now, she's never forgotten my birthday before" Riley said. "Oh, today's your birthday" I said as I shared a look with Keigo. "That's really exciting" Keigo said.

Riley told us to be quiet. "It's ok if they don't remember" Riley said. Me and Keigo were giving him a concerning look. "They have got much bigger things on their minds and it's fine" Riley said. "Kanan, Keigo, Riley...it's time for some fun! Kiwi style!" Chase said as he held a board above his head. Tyler, Hizashi and Ivan were cheering with Chase.

"Ok, I won't tell anyone" Keigo said. "Me too" I said. The three of us started to walk back towards the truck. "Don't worry, I think that your family will remember" I said. "Yeah. There's no way that your family will ever forget you" Keigo said. Riley nodded his head a little.

All of us got to the top of the sand dune. "I expected something less vertical" Ivan said. "Woo, very nice. Just like I hoped" Chase said. Chase started to hand out boards to us. "That's one really big sand dune" Riley said. "Perhaps a bit too big, no? Anyone, too big?" Ivan said. "Come on, it will be a blast!" Tyler said as he patted Ivan's back.

All of us started to slide down the sand dune. "Try to keep up boys and Kanan!" Shelby said. All of us started to cheer and laugh at the same time. Even some of us fell of our boards. All of us got to the bottom. "Guys, that was awesome!" Tyler said. "That was epic!" I said. "Yeah!" Keigo and Hizashi said as the three of us high fived. "That wasn't scary at all!" Chase said. "You scream like baby pig" Koda said. "What do you think, Riley?" Tyler asked. "It was pretty fun, I guess" Riley said. "I hope that you have got all of that on video" Chase said. "My phone...it must've slipped out of my hand while we was going down" Shelby said.

"Maybe it's over here" Shelby said. "Let's help the lady look" Ivan said. All of us started to look for Shelby's phone. "Your phone not behind truck" Koda said. Tyler, Chase, Koda, Riley, Shelby, Ivan and Hizashi were looking where the truck was parked when me and Keigo were looking near the grassy bit, looking for Shelby's phone.

"Why I'm not surprised that you aren't helping out Keigo" I said as I scoffed a little when I looked at him. "You aren't helping out either Kanan" Keigo said as he scoffed a little too as he looked back at me as well. "Whatever, I'm out of here!" I said as I started to walk away. "That's a great idea" Keigo said as he was walking away too. "Hey, what about my phone, guys!" Shelby said as the two of us started to push each other. "You lied about it so you find it" I said.

"What's wrong with the two of them?" Ivan asked. Hizashi saw the monster behind Tyler and Shelby.

"Look out!" I said as I kicked the monster back a little.

 "Oh, you spotted me! I better snip this one in the bud!" Shearfear said.

All of us dodged his attacks when all of us started to fight.

"Kanan! Help us!" Riley said.

"It's not my problem. See ya" Kanan said as she left.

"I'm not helping you either. I'm outta here!" Keigo said.

Riley turned back to the rest of us since we were still fighting Shearfear.

"Two down, seven more to go! When I'm done with you, you won't have a friend in the world! Vivix!" Shearfear said.

"We can destroy you ourselves!" Tyler said as the others agreed.
