Donghua sighed weakly and leaned into the crook of her neck. "I think I spoke too soon. My head is hurting again. Xiaobai, can I lay my head on your lap?"
Fengjiu patted his head. "Dijun, it's not comfortable for you to lie here in the kitchen."
"True," Donghua sighed heavily, burrowing deeper into her neck. He missed her so much.
"How about I take you to the guest bedroom, and you can lie down for a little?"
Donghua smiled into her neck but asked pitifully, "Will you stay with me?"
Fengjiu smoothed his hair and tried to resist breathing in his delicious sandalwood scent. "It's not proper for me to—"
Donghua winced in pain. "There aren't any servants around so no one even knows I'm here...and I think I would feel better if you massaged my head while I'm lying down."
Fengjiu bit her lip. "Dijun..."
Donghua sighed and then straightened up. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made such a request. I'll head back to Taichen Palace. Thank you for feeding me. Goodbye, Xiaobai," He stood up and turned to go.
"Wait!" Fengjiu grabbed his hand. He must be feeling a lot of pain to make such a request, and here she was, sending him off. Besides, it didn't make sense to come back in time to save him and not figure out what he's done to become so weak and stop him from doing it again. "It's fine. Let's go to the guest bedroom. I can stay with you a little."
Donghua hid his smile before turning back to her. "Please don't trouble yourself for me."
"It's no trouble at all," Fengjiu smiled. She used a little of her magic to put out the fire heating up the salty cakes and stood up to lead him to the guest bedroom. When he held onto her arm, she gave him a look but he whimpered and leaned more onto her.
"I'm sorry, I'm a little dizzy."
Fengjiu just sighed and led him to the direction of the guest bedroom. He paused for a second before the door, sighing. She turned to him in concern, not noticing the purple magic that entered the guest bedroom.
"Are you ok, Dijun?" She asked, caressing his jaw in concern.
"I'm sorry, Xiaobai. Just a sudden pang in my head. I'm better."
Fengjiu turned back and opened the door to the guest bedroom to see that all the sheets and pillows were gone. That's weird...Migu must've have taken it for a cleaning though he hadn't mentioned it this morning. "Dijun, it doesn't look like the guest bedroom is prepared..."
"Oh?" He leaned even more heavily on her.
Fengjiu bit her lip. "I guess you can lie down in my room for now. Hopefully you'll be fine before Migu comes back later to check on me."
Donghua nodded and followed her back outside and down a path to her room. She sat on the bed, resting her back against the wall with some pillows for her back, and patted her lap for him to come. He sat down, sighing contently as he laid his head on her lap.
She started touching his head. "Dijun, so are you going to tell me how you and High God Zhe Yan got hurt?"
Enjoying her fingers in his hair, Donghua opened one eye and looked up at her. "What do I get for answering all your questions?"
She gave him a look. "I'm massaging you. And I just fed you."
"But that wasn't conditioned on me answering questions." Donghua reasoned.
Fengjiu stopped massaging and crossed her arm in protest, tilting her chin. But her resolve lasted only a second when she sensed him wincing in pain. Her hands came back down to his head and continued massaging. "Fine, Dijun, what do you want?"
