It was gently raining outside. Donghua stopped by their bedroom with a tray of food. He saw through the window Fengjiu sitting at a desk near their bed, writing on a scroll. She wrote a character and sighed with exasperation before crossing out the character. Her hair tumbled from behind her ear onto her face and she blew it away in exasperation. Knowing how easily startled his wife was, he knocked gently. She looked up with a bright smile.

After all these years, just seeing her smile made feel contentment he had never experienced in his 400,000 years of existence. He would destroy anything that dared to hurt her. He would protect her with his life. He smiled back at her warmly and set the tray on the bed before bending down to pick her up.

"Dijun, I'm not done yet." She protested but sighed, snuggling her head on his shoulder. She felt him kiss the top of her head and she smiled into his neck, breathing in his delicious white sandalwood scent.

"It can wait. I brought you some food."

Fengjiu looked at him in surprise. Since Zhonglin was in the Nine Heavens to prepare Taichen Palace for their upcoming stay, she was surprised Donghua was able to make her food. Cooking was still...not his strong suit. "You made me some food?"

He settled her on the bed and laid down next to her. "I...erm...saved you some food." And she looked at the tray, seeing the sorrowless cakes and fox shaped lollipops she had made for him as a snack after lunch. She had thought he would've eaten it all by now so he must have finally practiced some restraint for her. She was going to kiss him at his thoughtfulness but seeing the food, her stomach did growl and she bit into one of the cakes.

"I tried to make you some fish but it turned out..." Donghua cleared his throat again. "It is more suitable to Siming and Liansong's taste so I sent it to them."

Fengjiu stuffed her mouth with another cake. "They can never say you are not thoughtful."

"Who would dare?" Donghua tilted his head in that adorably arrogant way she loved. She laughed. Already his mere presence took away the headache she had from writing. He served her some tea and watched her as she ate and drank. When she was finally full, she laid back down to rest, cuddling happily with him.  She loved these little moments with him.

Donghua held her hand and looked down at her

Donghua held her hand and looked down at her. Fengjiu blushed and touched her face. "Is there food on my face?"

There was nothing but he cradled her chin and lightly licked the corner of her lip. "Yes, a little."

Fengjiu's heart was stuck in her throat, mesmerized by his lips. "Is it...is it gone?"

His finger caressed her lip. Fengjiu felt her cheeks deepening with a blush. Even after all these years, just a simple touch from him made her want him so much. Embarrassed at her lack of control, she lightly bit her lower lip, to try to curb her desire.

"No, I should clean it better." His eyes glimmered that familiar purple and leaned down to kiss her lips.  She knew that snacking time was over.
