Fengjiu yawned, snuggling deeper into his arms. "Mmm...I love how you smell, Dijun..."
"Xiaobai, are you feeling ok?" He asked, kissing the top of her head. Donghua's voice was a lovely rumble in her ear. Fengjiu smiled. She loved how even deeper his voice sounded in the early morning. She never wanted to wake up from this dream. He felt so warm and soothing, and she just wanted to burrow her nose deeper and listen to his heartbeat.
"Amazing." She smiled, lazily kissing his chest. "I love dreaming of you."
There was a pause. "And why is that, Xiaobai?"
"I love how you say that...Xiaobai...." She emulated his deep voice and tender cadence and then giggled. "It makes my heart flutter."
"You don't think it sounds like a dog's name?" He asked with some uncertainty.
Fengjiu raised her head to look at him. Her heart sometimes couldn't bear how beautiful he was. It was hard to believe she was able to get close enough to him to see him from this angle, to touch him, to dream of him. "Of course not. I think it's perfect."
"Xiaobai, are you going to take advantage of me?" He asked, caressing her back.
Fengjiu blushed but bent down to nuzzle his nose, and her lips were just mere inches from his lips. "Since it is a dream..."
He made a groan, before lifting her chin to look into her eyes. "Xiaobai, this isn't a dream. If you're going to kiss me, know that this is real."
Fengjiu blinked, raising herself above him."I'm not dreaming?" She squeezed his cheek. "It is a dream, there's no pain at all."
"Xiaobai, that's my cheek." Donghua rubbed his check. Fengjiu looked at him in horror. She was not dreaming. He was in her bed. She scrambled off of him and sat up, covering herself with the blanket.
"Dijun, why are you here?"
Donghua sat up. "I took the blood tear from you and put you in a sleep so you can recover. I put both blood tears into Miao Luo to let her regenerate her body so I could kill her using Bai Qian's blood. She died like she did in the Starlight Ward of your time. She is no more and cannot hurt you."
Fengjiu sighed. He was finally freed of that crazed demoness. "That's so great."
"Now that the world is safe and I am safe, will you marry me?" Donghua asked.
Fengjiu blinked, the cautionary words of the Fate Immortal returning. "But we have no destiny..." She looked at him, her big apricot eyes full of tears.
He wiped away her tears. "I've never feared destiny, and I certainly don't need its charity."
"I can't bear it if you were to die because of me."
"Xiaobai, I would rather die than live without you. Besides, I've purified the Miaoyi Chasm and destroyed Miao Luo. What else do you want me to do?" He caressed her chin. "If you truly don't want to be with me, I will not force you. But if you won't give us a chance because of some so-called destiny, then let me go take care of the Fate Immortal now." Donghua's voice was calm, but his eyes glimmered purple. It was clear that he would not be beneficent.
"Dijun..." she bit her lip, looking down at the bedding, the fear of him being injured again and again and dying to protect her overwhelmed her.
Donghua sighed. "Or is it because you really don't love me?"
