"So. What happened while I was gone?" Asked Doogie, the two friends meeting in his room once again. Vinnie already wore an annoyed expression on his face and Doogie's question didn't help either.
"She ditched me." Vinnie spoke plainly as he layed down on Doogie's bed. Doogie on the other hand sat in his chair and just looked at his friend unamused.
"Why?" The boy asked for his friend to explain further. The three words given before that didn't really do that.
"To go paint." Another three words that gave a rather vague answer dropped out of Vinnie's mouth, the boy not even caring anymore.
"And why is she painting instead of hanging out with you?" Doogie tried to get as much information out of Vinnie as he could since the boy was giving him answers that really didn't explain anything.
"Her mom has some gallery in like two days but she hasn't finished all the paintings so Y/n had to jump in I guess..." Vinnie answered dissappointed and Doogie looked at him in disbelief.
"So you got mad at your girlfriend because she had to go do something that brings food to her table? Let's her have a roof over her head and a bed to sleep in at night?!" Yelled Doogie at Vinnie, trying to explain how unreasonable the boy was with Y/n earlier.
"Hey! She paints almost every day! There's always a gallery, like every week! She always makes time for painting and cancels on me! DON'T YOU SEE HOW SELFISH THAT IS?!" Yelled Vinnie back frustrated that his friend wasn't on his side.
"YOU DUMBASS! That's the only reason she's not homeless yet Vinnie! Don't you get it? Just like my parents work their jobs to bring me food and make sure I have a bed to sleep in at night so does Y/n's mom except sometimes Y/n has to help her! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE TIME FOR OTHER PEOPLE DOESN'T MEAN SHE CAN! She's just trying to survive out here... She and her mom are on their own. No one is helping them. People are barely even rooting for them. So try and be reasonable. Y/n and you lead different lives. And I'm sure she's been through hell. So even now, you should be there for her. Look out for her. That's what a real friend... And boyfriend would do. Not lash out at her for not making time for you..." Doogie's little speech brought a tear to Vinnie's eye. Quickly looking down the boy wipped it away in an instant, not wanting for others to see him cry, even if it was just his best friend.
"You're right Doogie... I'm sorry." He apologized and looked back up at his friend who shook his head.
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. Go make things right with her. And for the love of god, please ask her already so that I know what to refer to you two as." Vinnie just smiled at his friend and hugged him before leaving through the window to go and get the girl he so desperately loved back.

Y/n painted alone in her apartment. As much as she didn't want her thoughts to go back to him, they did. Her cheeks were stained with her now dry tears that she stopped wipping at some point, not caring for them anymore. The only thing she wanted to do was finish these pieces and go to bed to forget everything. Her mom wasn't home yet, she had to work late at night, her shift ending at around 2 am.
She got up from her crouched position in front of the canvas and walked to her record player. Looking through the records she had, she saw a familiar favourite before placing the piece onto the player and pressing 'play'.
Hey, hey, hey lover~
The all so familiar lyrics of the song played for the 20th time that month probably. The light sound of the rain hitting the windows in the room went along nicely with the song. The girl twirled around the room, watching where her bare feet stepped as to not step into the paint. She barely heard the frantic ring of the doorbell go over and over again.
Ding dong ding dong ding dong
It didn't stop until Y/n ran down the stairs to the first floor yelling for whoever was on the other side to stop ringing. "Okay, I'm coming! Stop!" The girl opened the door frustrated but it seemed all the anger in her left after seeing who stood on the other side. "Vinnie..."
The boy was drenched from the rain. His hair sticking to his face as more raindrops hit his head and yet he didn't care about how wet he got. His only priority at the moment, was Y/n. "I'm sorry. The way I acted was horrible. I didn't think about how you felt and I can't apologize enough for it. You're really special to me, Y/n. You're the first girl I've ever actually cared for as much as I do. You don't have to forgive me now but please let me show you that I do care. Really." Lifting one of his hands, in it he had a bag in which were two slushies, one red and one blue. "In case you're hungry and..." Lifting the other, he carried a small tub of white paint. "You said you needed white paint."
The tears were quickly brought back to the girls eyes. Not caring for the rain, the girl stepped forward and wrapped her hands around the boys neck, embracing him in a tight hug. He immediately hugged her back as tight as he could with his hands already full. Both now stood in the rain, neither really giving a damn about it. Only thing that mattered for them, was each other.
"Thank you..." The girl whispered quietly before grabbing his hand and pulling him into the house and out of the cold night rain.
