Finding the True Core Prophecy

*Luigi's POV*

How am I going to befriend Kamek? It sounds easy, but in reality it's the most difficult thing I've ever thought of attempting! I could offer him some help using my powers, but I'm not sure if he understands anything about magic overusage and drainage and cause me to pass out and then not know what to do. I could explain the concept to him, but what if he doesn't listen and ends up killing me? No, Luigi, he wouldn't just do something that stupid behind Bowser's back. Bowser says I am valuable, he wouldn't risk killing me.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe I forgot about my passive light core ability! Wait... if I share my astral sight with Kamek, he could spy on anyone he wants without draining me of energy! And I can gain his trust further by not spilling anything we see together and inform him on anything he needs me to look at! Oh my goodness, this might work! Now I just need to find him. Where's Kamek? I closed my eyes and searched for Kamek's astral silhouette, thank goodness I used astral sight during dinner with Kamek around. Aha! I found him. Now to get to Kamek.

I walked out of my room, to find there were no guards outside my door. I made sure there were no guards around with my astral sight, and began to fly in the direction of where I found Kamek earlier. I don't want the guards to see I can fly, so I mostly kept my ears open to any armor or chitchat nearby in case I was close to encountering one of the Koopa Troopas. I checked where Kamek was in the castle, still in the same spot, and I was getting close to him.

I saw a few guards coming up the hall I had to pass to get to the room Kamek's in, so I landed softly on the ground and began walking. I waved at the two Koopa Troopas as they passed me, focused on their patrol, but gave me an acknowledging nod to show I'm seen. I checked what room Kamek was in, and it was right on my left side. I cautiously open the door, Kamek was reading a book. No wonder he wasn't moving.

"No, this can't be right! He can't be the True Core himself! If Bowser finds out about this prophecy, he'll have my head for hiding who his real soulmate is! And he's not going to like that it's Luigi. Ohhhh, what do I do, what do I do?!" Kamek was freaking out. Wait, did he mention a prophecy? Wait, I'm Bowser's soulmate?!? I can see why he's freaking out now. I would be losing my mind if I was him. "Luigi! Hi! I didn't see you there! Or hear you come in. Say, need anything?" Kamek looked obviously nervous, he was stuttering with every sentence he spoke. Can't lie to him if I want to gain his trust.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I couldn't help but overhear what you said about a True Core prophecy and soulmates. I didn't mean to listen, and I won't tell anyone!" I bet I looked twice as nervous as I think I sounded. Which was very nervous, let me tell you. I was stuttering and everything! "Ah, so your wisp friends didn't tell you about the prophecy. And just so you know, yes I know they exist and have been helping you with your magic, okay? But yes, there was a prophecy I've hid from Bowser. That prophecy is 'The True Core and His Fated Mate'. It was written 25 years ago, presumably on your birthday. Is your birthday October 11th?" Kamek explained.

"Um, yes. That's Mario and I's birthday. Why?" I was curious as to how he knew my birthday, but I pushed it aside. "Come look at this, Luigi." Kamek signals me to the book on the table. I go up to read it, and Kamek points me to the prophecy:

"Underneath is an old prophecy of the True Core pairing.
It's been nearly 25 years since its writing, soon to come true.

The True Core and His Fated Mate

In 25 years, he will arrive to this world
In 25 years, his true core will show.
Today, October 11th he has been born,
With a twin, a non-magical light core.
His magic lays dormant, it shall soon be awaken
By three little wisps whose magic will be taken.
He and his twin will be split
Him to a dark land, his twin to one well-lit.
The king of that land he will encounter,
And the three little wisps
Will see to his fate
That he falls for the fiery dark core king
Who will be his mate."

I was shocked: Avani, Shikha and Talassa were supposed to see that my magic was awakened and that I'd fall in love with Bowser himself! And they never mentioned a thing to me! Now I was really mad at them. "I wouldn't be upset at them, you know? Did they tell you to try and befriend me?" Kamek looked at me. "Well, yes." I answered his question. "I caught them earlier today while you were probably walking to the dining room. They told me they were trying to make sure you had proper teachers for your magic, so they chose to help you themselves. They also told me about Bowser being a magical dark core, which I already knew, and that you were the True Core of the prophecy. Bowser would be attracted to you due to the soulmate bond, but he doesn't know it's the soulmate bond that's drawing him to you, Luigi." Kamek explained.

I didn't know what to say. They told him everything, why not me? "I told them I had to speak with you about some things, but that you had to come to me. I've been acting on edge with you so you'd try to come and see me." He continued. That's why Shikha mentioned Kamek, she was pushing me to speak with Kamek. "It appears that my fears were correct, both of them. You may be asking what two fears I had. One was that you were the real True Core, the other one was that you didn't know the prophecy. Just promise me something, will you?" Kamek was asking me to promise him something? "I will. What is it?" I asked.

"Promise me you'll make sure Bowser doesn't find out of the prophecy by his own means, and if he does find out that way please make sure he understands I didn't tell him because I was afraid of what the people would think about his involvement. No one else in the kingdom knows of this prophecy but me. Please, promise me." Kamek looked like he was struggling with a heavy weight only I could seem to help him lift off him. "Don't worry, Kamek. I promise." I gave the wizard Koopa a warm smile as I made the promise with him.

"Thank you, Luigi. Say, I heard you can see the astral space around you with your eyes closed. Could I see how that works? It has me a bit curious on how everything looks." He brings up my astral sight ability, reminding me of what I had planned to do with him. "Of course! And if you want, we can spy on a few people too." I added playfully. I saw him get really excited.

"Let's have some fun then!"
