𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃 into the driveway of her dimly lit beachfront home. She stayed in her car for a few moments longer, taking in the feeling. Her hands were curled around the steering wheel as her eyes welled up. The mission was the following morning, and she was more worried and anxious than she had ever been.
She quickly swiped at her eyes, attempting to stop the wave of emotion that washed over her. Colette stepped out of her car, her hair blowing in the breeze as she moved towards her door. As she entered, she went to the fridge, looking for a bottle of wine she rarely drank.
She took a glass from the cabinet and poured wine halfway up the glass. Colette wasn't a heavy drinker, or even a drinker at all. But she wasn't stupid. She understood that if she wanted to relieve her stress and silence her thoughts, a glass of wine could help.
She felt compelled to make a choice she should have made years ago. She paused for a minute, taking another sip of her beverage, and taking in the surroundings. She had to see him. She needed to communicate her feelings to him. Before it was too late.
Colette grabbed her keys without hesitation and gathered the courage she needed. She got back into her car and drove down the dimly illuminated streets of the neighbourhood, admiring the houses as her body swelled with confidence.
She pulled up outside the location she knew she needed to be. She staggered out of her car and neared the front door. The inside of the house was lit up, a shaky reminder that someone was home. Colette could see the figure through the icy glass on the upper space of the door as she lightly tapped the button next to the entryway.
It was now or never. Before it was too late.

"𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐓𝐎 𝐅𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐘𝐎𝐔." Maverick stated looking towards the line of aviators. Their faces were stoic, feeling both hopeful and petrified. Colette and Hondo were standing towards the back of the room prepared to make their way to the tarmac. Colette was worried, more than ever.
"Each of you represents the best of the best . This is an extremely specific mission. My choices are a reflection of that and nothing more." Maverick concludes as the air is sucked from the room. Sweat built on the faces of everyone in the room. The stakes were high.
"Choose your two foxtrot teams." Admiral Simpson ordered. Maverick nodded at the man before making his final decision. "Payback and Fanboy. Phoenix and Bob." The duos exchanged looks of success and worry with each other.
"And your wingman." Admiral Simpson added. Maverick looked towards the pilots. Colette glanced at Bradley and Jake for a final time. "Rooster." Jake's shoulders fell slightly as Bradley looked towards Maverick, exchanging a look of understanding with the man.
"The rest of you will stay on standby on the carrier for any reserve roles that are required." Cyclone announced. The aviators were briefed one last time on the mission before they were sent to their jets. Once dismissed, they offered wishes of luck to each other and looks of congratulations. Hondo tapped Colette slightly before the pair made their way out to the tarmac.
