It's interesting to me how people live their lives. How a simple choice can ultimately alter it completely. I'm not perfect at all, but it phases me to see how people can throw away something good.

Tons of people wish for what they have, while they don't appreciate what's right in front of them. Of course, for different people, it can mean different things. Money. Drugs. Family.

It's different for every person.

It just depends on what's most important.

Unless you don't have one and the choice is already made for you.

Like me.

I may not have my blood relatives, but I I'm do have people who I consider family. Who have been there for me and have my back.

And will always have my back.

Who have saved me. Whose been more than blood family could ever be.

The lesson is that nothing is forever. You can change your path.

Unless you have a million demons like myself, and slaying them becomes impossible everyday.

...
I woke up around 6. If I get more than 6 hours of sleep I'm lucky.

I made my way straight to the gym where I did a quick workout.

Came back, and fed my dog, Khaos. He was a military- trained, Russian bred German Shepard dog that could tear you apart in less than 15 seconds.

I put him on his leash and made my way downstairs, so he could relieve himself. Humans often bored me, but a dog? They're really a man's best friend.

As I made my way downstairs, we got the usual looks. Khaos didn't look like a normal loving dog, but rather a beast. As people walked by him, they easily scooted away, afraid of him.

The truth was, he was teddy bear. Yes, he could probably off you in no time, but he was loving.

Something I wasn't.

Each day he uncovered a layer of my humanity. If it weren't for him and my close friends- my heart would still be ice cold.

Each day a small layer defrosts.

After Khaos relieved himself, I took him back to the penthouse. The building is where everything happens. It's where I live, work, and see my mates.

A few floors above me was my closest friend, Ronan and his daughter, Charlotte. Ronan and I go way back. Back to covert ops days where we both saved each other's lives numerous times.

That in itself created a special bond. Add in his daughter, and my ice walls are melting quicker than I anticipated. A little while ago, Ronan discovered Charlotte. She's been around for a little bit and I'd by lying if I said she didn't have us all wrapped around her finger.

She was a good kid. One who put everyone else before herself. Her and her father taught me what it was like to protect people you love.

Because I'd do anything for them.

After I unleashed Khaos, I grabbed my gym bag and made my way downstairs. I figured I'd stop by the warehouse and put in a few practice hits to stay fresh.

As I made my way out the lobby and opened the door, I noticed something fell behind it.

Or rather a who.

As I opened the door all the way, I noticed a woman holding a child, and she had fallen on the floor.

They were both soaked from the stormy weather. She got up and looked at me. "You need to watch where you're going. Should you even be here?" I asked her. It escaped my mouth before I could stop myself.

She looked upset. But it didn't phase me.

"I was trying to escape the rain. You should watch where you're going too." she told me as she looked up to me with an annoyed face. Her little scrunched up nose made me want to laugh hysterically.

I shook my head and was about to walk away when something else caught my attention.

I focused to the blood dripping down her daughter's face.

She must've gotten it when she fell. She was shivering a ton.

Dammit.

I may have a cold heart, but I'm not a dick. I knew  it needed to be tended to.

"Can I help you?" She asked me in an annoyed tone, causing me to roll my eyes.

"She's bleeding. Come follow me" I told her as I held open the door. I internally rolled my eyes, knowing that I was going to be late to the warehouse.

I took her to one of the spare rooms and sat her down. I grabbed the first aid kit and got some gauze and alcohol pads to clean the cut.

I worked as a trauma surgeon part time for the mafia, but the other half I was usually running the clubs or businesses. Being a doctor, your medical background never leaves you. Deep down, I knew I needed to clean and bandage it to prevent any further infection.

I turned around and made my way over to them. As I did so, I saw the girl's eyes began to fall asleep.

"No don't let her sleep" I immediately shouted. Sleeping after a head injury is the last thing you should do. If a concussion is present, the patient could fall into a deep coma.

I bent down and gently removed any spare pieces of hair from her forehead. I cleaned the cut gently and then applied some gauze with tape.

"Shouldn't you be wearing gloves?" She asked me with a disgraced look.

Geez she doesn't shut up does she.

"Shouldn't you learn to watch where you're going?" I countered back to her.

She gave me a annoyed look and rolled her eyes.

"Watch her. If she starts to have dizziness or any other thing out of the ordinary, take her to the ER" i told her firmly.

She thanked me and got up to leave. As she did, another set of red caught my eyes.

Her entire arm was covered in road rash from when she fell from the sidewalk. I don't know how she wasn't in pain.

It looked terrible.

After a long debate, I made her sit down and cleaned it. I then gave her instructions on how to care for it and she gave me a small thanks in return.

I ushered them out the room into the lobby, and grunted in discontent.

Now I can finally go about my day.
