Today was a shit show. I couldn't tell you where or how things went wrong, but they just did. There was a gala tonight hosted by the city and its' commisioners. Every powerful mf in the city would be there- governers, CEO's, investors- you name it.
And of course, that included the mafia. So as requested, the whole team was there as well. At first, everything was normal. People dressed to the nines, waiters parading around with flutes of champagne, soft jazz music buzzing in the background. The usual.
How tonight ended up in a complete disaster, I wasn't sure.
Before I knew it, a fight scene impoloded in front of me. It looked like that scene from Avengers Endgame when everyone began attacking each other.
As trained, we made sure our guys were out safe and sound, and then the boys and I went back in to figure out what the hell was going on.
Later, we found out there were some deals made under the table, resulting in different parties getting upset. As always, the first people they point fingers to was the mafia.
But unfortunately for them, we didn't make dirty deals. The deals we made were upfront. No hidden messages, no cowardness. Everything we agreed on would be held up.
So when shit went crazy, you bet we were going to make it right.
At the moment, a few of our guys were being transported to our medical bay. After a brief assessment, we determined nothing was too urgent.
Though, we were missing one of our men.
And that was alarming.
To any other person, the first thing to do would be to call them. But with our background, that was the last thing you wanted to do. God forbid they were taken by the enemy and were now used as leverage.
Or a traitor. We learned in our world, you couldn't ever trust anyone, which is why it was imperative we find him.
So now became the manhunt.
Ro and I were searching for every possible place he could've been. Using our "sources" we determined he wasn't taken as revenge or anything of that kind.
But we still needed to track him down.
When we interviewed some of our guys, they saw that he got hurt pretty bad, so he couldn't have gone far.
He would've had to have gone somewhere where he wouldn't have been noticed, yet get the treatment he needed.
Hospitals and clinics were out of the question, because it wouldv've been too much attention.
We put a notice out to any of our medical team and anyone in general that if they hear anything, they had to report it immediately. Which eliminates any of our treatment centers.
By process of elimination, he would've had to have gone to some form of a hospital.
One that didn't draw too mcuh attenion.
And it was in that moment, I knew exactly where he had gone.
Aila
Today was another day at work. Again, I entered into place full of chaos. Thankfully, I was on the ICU unit, which tended to be a little more quieter. A kind nurse helped show me the ropes of the floor and assigned me the patients I'd be looking over my 12 hour shift.
I noticed one of them was the patient that I helped save yesterday in the ER. Today, he looked even worse. The bruises had time to darken, making him almost unrecognizable. I went in and administered the appropriate medication that was on his chart. I checked all his lines and made sure there were no blockages and everything was flowing smoothly.
I ended up doing this for the rest of the patients on the floor. After a few hours, I started to feel a bit of sadness in my chest. Seeing all these patients here sick and helpless made me realize why I went into medicine in the first place. Specifically why I became a nurse.
I took a deep breath and thanked my lucky stars that I got the opportunity to be here.
As I exited my patients room, and head to the nurses station to begin to chart, the loud opening of a door startled me.

Silly goose.
He could run, but he coudn't hide.
He had to have gone somewhere where he would've gotten the help he needed, but stay on the low.
And what perfect way to do that than at one of the worst mf hospitals in the city?
The hospital that hasn't passed a single inspection in 5 years, and the only reason it's still running is so that the governer can call it his "philanthropy project". Of course the inspectors turn a blind eye to the disaster and get paid under the table, but why else would they care when their pockets are getting filled?
Pisses me off.
Ro and I sped there. Of course, it was in the shitty part of town.
Both of us got out of the Escalade and looked up to the old raggedy building. They sould film the next haunted movie here.
As we got out, we got weird looks from people all around. Probably what business we had doing here. Yet, they knew.
They knew not to ask questions and just turn their heads.
We walked up to the front desk and was met by a middle aged nurse who looked to not give a damn about anything.
"Hello ma'am, we are looking for a patient. His name is Christian Aldora. Has he been here?" Ronan asked her politely.
She looked up at us with through her glasses and then turned to what looked to be an ancient computer. She pretended she typed up a name, and then gave us a sarcastic look. "Nope, no one by the name of that here." she said in an annoying voice.
I rolled my eyes and pulled out a stack from in my jacket. At the sight, her eyes went wide.
I handed it to her and leaned ovet the counter. "I'm gonna hand you this. You accept it, graciously and you let my friend and I here through those double doors." I told her in a tone that left no room for argument.
Her mouth opened so wide, and she began to nod heavily. She looked at the money in shock as she pulled her badge from her shirt and handed it to us.
"H-have a nice day gentleman" she whispered, still in shock.
I smiled back to her. "You too Katherine"
And soon, we walked through those doors.
