Aila

The loud bang of the door caught mine and some other nurses attention immediately.

I stood up to see what caused it, or rather a who.

Is soon as I made eye contact, a series of feelings settled through me. My heart began to race.

Strolling down the corridor as if they own the place, were Ronan and Grey.

Two people I definitely didn't expect to see this afternoon.

They both caught eyes with mine. Both of their eyebrows furrowed in confusion, probably wondering why I was here.

They both made their way towards me. "What are you doing here?" Grey asked me in an emotionless tone.

"I work here." I told him in an equally firm tone.

He rolled his eyes. "No shit".

I sighed in annoyance. "Why are you here?" I asked him with my arms folded, trying to make myself look more intimidating.

"I'm looking for someone, and I think he's most definitely in one of those rooms." He said in a serious tone and began to look around."

"Where is Christian Aldora?" he asked me with a straight face.

The name immediately popped up in my head. It was the patient who I worked on yesterday, and the one I was currently caring for on my shift. Why did they need him? He's hurt.

Oh my gosh. Could they be the reason he's here? My mind began to race with all the possibilities. That man was severely beaten up and had an extensive list of injuries. Why would they care if he's here?

"I'm not going to ask you again. Where is he? Your facial expression alone just told me what I needed to confirm." He said in an even more upset voice.

"He's not here. I don't know who you're talking about." I lied to him.

He squinted his eyes at me, clearly not buying my lies.

"Enough with the bullshit. Tell me right now, and save me the time of looking myself. Either way, I will find him." he said in a daring tone.

"Just tell us, Aila." Ronan said from beside him.

"I am. I already told you he's not here and I don't know who your talking about." I said in a challenging tone.

He stared at me for a second and then nodded. "Alright fine, you wanna play the hard way." he said. He then turned around and made his way to the first room. He grabbed the file at the front of the door, scanned it for a few seconds and when he read what he needed he threw it back.

He was checking all of the rooms individually.

Christian was in room 13. Since he was one of the more critical cases, he was closer to the nurses station incase we needed to get to him quickly.

I went in front of his room and slyly grabbed the folder. I threw it on a nearby cart and went back to the door of the room, pretending I was writing some notes.

After a couple of minutes, Grey was in front of me. The look on his face screamed seriousness.

But I wasn't gonna back down.

"Move." he said in a firm tone.

"No"

"Aila I'm not gonna ask again, you need to move." He said, anger present in his voice.

I shook my head and crossed my arms like a defiant child, as I stood by the door.

"If you don't leave, I'm gonna call security." I told him in my best "mom" voice that I used on Sofie. Spoiler alert- it never worked.

He looked at me and gave me a sarcastic laugh. "Yeah, call them. Let's see what they can do." He said as he too crossed his arms and stood in front of me. He was a foot taller, making me crane my head upwards to look at him. He was definitely intimidating, but I wasn't afraid.

Let's light this candle.

"Please, just move to the side Aila" Ronan practically begged in a softer tone.

I shook my head again.

He looked at me for a second before he came closer to me. Before he could, I immediately opened the door and ran in front of the patient, arms out wide so they couldn't get to him.

"I'm not going to let you hurt him." I said in a strong tone. And this time- I meant it.

Both of them gave me a confused look. "Hurt him? Wtf are you talking about?"

"Stop trying to play games" I told him frustratedly.

Before the could respond, I heard a brief shift in movement behind me. I didn't think much of it until I felt something against my neck.

"Both of you leave, or she dies." I heard a hoarse voice speak out loud.

Holy shit.
