Your Perspective

"I don't see how that's my problem truth be told." I told Neuvillette. He shook his head, sipping on the cup of tea I had given him, before setting it down.

"Believe me, I wholeheartedly understand your hesitance at helping her, but I believe that it might be best to temporarily put your difference with Furina for this." He responded.

"Neuvilette, be that as it may, I simply don't want to see her ever again. She made a mockery of me, caused my reputation to be ruined enough with her tactics, and now is asking for my help in protection. Aren't you enough? Isn't that Clorinde girl enough, given that she is my replacement?"

"Unfortunately, Clorinde had to take an excursion, and my lady stated that she would prefer her replacement to be someone she knows personally." He shrugged. "And, I believe that the compensation of Mora I can offer will make it more than worthwhile to be her guard once more." He said sliding a note across to me. My eyes scanned it and widened at the amount before I cleared my throat.

"How long am I needed for?"

Neuvillette nodded, knowing that he had my cooperation.

"A week should suffice."

. . .

I was standing outside the gates to the court, and I tapped my foot impatiently, before deciding it was a bad idea to see Furina again. The memory of yesterday's discussion replayed in my mind and the offer of Mora was I to comply was too tantalizing, but it's not too late to turn ba-

"Gevaudan? Is that you?" Furina, called as she looked at me in disbelief.

"I knew you would return to me eventually! My loyal Gevaudan!"

"First of all, I don't go by that name anymore. Second of all, this is a temporary arrangement." I said holding out my hand to stop her from getting closer. Furina pouted and crossed her arms at my denial of her affection.

"Surely, you're not still mad at me for what happened 100 years ago? A century has passed! Plus, your legacy is intact for the most part is it not? I made sure to make it so upon the realization that you-"

"Please just . . . stop talking. For god's sake, stop talking."

"You used to love hearing my voice though . . . " She complained.

"Used too. Now I can barely stand it." I said, leaning against the wall and lighting up a cigarette.

"If you don't go under the name Gevaudan anymore, then what do I call you aside from my loyal lapdog?" Furina said smugly probably in an attempt to get under my skin. I simply rolled my eyes and asked if she wanted me to leave then since she seemed like she could save herself.

"Wait, no no no no! I'm sorry don't leave me!" Furina cried, doing a complete 180, which caught me off guard. Whatever is bothering her or putting her on edge must be pretty bad to scare her this bad.

". . . Let's grab something to eat rather than stay here. And I go by (Y/N) now." I said, motioning for her to follow. Furina perked up and ran up to stand beside me without a beat.

"Why (Y/N)? That name is rather plain for a being like yourself is it not?"

"Okay, I'd appreciate it if you shut up for now."
