Lia's Pov:
They were staring at me. A better phrase would be, GAWKING at me. I didn't know what to do, so I just stood there like squidward with my arms hanging straight by my waist and an awkward smile on my face. I wish I worked on my social life in college. I so wish.
I could feel those eyes judging me from head to toe, but I couldn't care less. My cheeks flushed from the confidence that I felt wearing that dress and I smirked at the audience so they had a view to glance at.
But that was shortly interrupted after my anxiety kicked in as soon as my eyes darted upon their clothes.
I blacked out, I was put on spot. How does one even react to such an avant-garde fashion sense.
They all looked insanely gorgeous. Guys in suits, leather trousers, silk shirts, and all sorts of clothes one could find in a fancy clothing shop(the good ones of course). Whereas, girls present there were giving tough competition to Hollywood actresses with their designer gowns, floral skirts, high waisted leather pants paired with black leather boots, heels, shimmery shorts and whatnot. I felt like I was on the set of Euphoria as soon as my eyes traversed at their makeup and accessories. I really couldn't stop admiring every person there.
"Lia? Let's go!", Flora snapped me out of my fantasies.
I looked at Flora and gave a nod. The people present there had shifted their gaze towards the pool. Loud noises soon echoed throughout the club.
Everybody just started running towards the pool abruptly and so did Flora. I couldn't comprehend the situation so I followed Flora's lead and tried my best to run in my very voluminous dress. The crowd was intense so I had to do some pushing in order to get there. The whole process was just so uneasy.
"It's him!"
"Is it? Oh My God he's so damn charming!"
The girls beside me muttered to each other.
Cameras flashed, lights shimmered and the whole crowd went insane over a certain someone's appearance.
I stood there, trying to sneak in the view they were all talking about but I could barely see anything. I was perplexed, whether it was some celebrity who had walked straight out of Hollywood to this fancy-ass party. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was but I couldn't care less. I stopped leaping.
"Flora can we go somewhere quieter. I kind of avoid crowded places", I loudly whispered in Flora's ears who was so engrossed in jumping and catching the view.
She looked at me and chuckled, "No Lia, you're gonna wanna see this", she winked.
"Whatever, I'm gonna go catch a shot", I rolled my eyes and turned my back to walk out of the pool place when I heard a loud squeal.
"IT IS RYAN OH MY GOD!!", girls went gaga.
My feet got stuck, my heart started racing faster than a horse with a filthy rich bet. Shivers ran down my spine and my face turned pale. I did a 180^ and turned my head in fear and trepidation.
The crowd screamed on the top of their lungs, "RYAN GODWIN!!!"
The name sounded nothing less than an ephialtes. My breath got stuck in my throat at the very sight of him. My hands went numb. I froze in terror. Sweat started forming on my forehead when my suspicions were corroborated. It really was that JERK.
He wore a dark oxford blue suit with a white silk shirt underneath. Another new pair of sunglasses sat on his nose bridge that were darker than the darkest trench. I couldn't even tell if he had eyes in there. A sigh of relief came out of my mouth. The stones on his watch were glimmering under the lights and his arms forced a silhouette on the suit causing him to appear more masculine than I actually bet he was.
He waved at everyone and flashed a smirk. It seemed very unrealistic anyway.
I couldn't condone standing there any longer. I made my way back to the main bar area.
"Lia come here!", Flora shrieked when she saw me get distant from the pool place.
I had just taken a few steps back and there was already someone screeching my name out loud.
Oh God. I couldn't risk turning back and responding to Flora. I didn't want Ryan to see me AT ALL. At any costs, I'd give up my life than face that man. It was either my job or me confronting that man and I chose my job. I ran, as fast as I could to get away from that place. The pool place was an active crime scene to me at that moment and I didn't wanted to be a suspect. Not now. Not today.
I could bet my heart rate was faster than a patient on life support. My whole body was shivering in fright. I wanted to throw up. I needed something to calm my intrusive thoughts down but I couldn't stop yet.
I looked back to check if Flora had followed me while I was still running from my destiny, when I bumped into someone. My head banged against theirs and I lost my sight for a second.
"What the fuck!", I throbbed in affliction. Rubbing my head, I looked up at the person who I bumped in.
"Hey it's just me! Sorry to have um", Jay rubbed his head and chuckled, "Are you okay? You seemed like you were running from a crime scene", he laughed.
The rage and fear in my eyes soon retreated. My diffident self-esteem turned into a gleeful smile.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you-", I apologised.
Jay interrupted me mid-sentence, "Don't be, I was being negligent anyway", he patted my shoulders, "You look stunning dang!", a gummy smile on his face as he looked at me.
My cheeks turned rosy pink, my eyes lit up. A sense of jubilation warmed me up.
"I was looking for you, afraid that you wouldn't be able to make it", Jay explained.
He looked cheeky. His blonde hair was neatly parted with a few hair strands hanging on his forehead, touching his brows. He wore a plain white shirt that was tucked inside his black old-school trousers with an adorable vest on top.
A small silver bracelet wrapped around his wrists and a delightful smile on his face.I got lost in his blue doey eyes for a second like scientists get strayed while examining the beautiful crescent moon.
"Hey?", he giggled, "Where'd you go?".
