Howdy strangerrr (quirky era?) Fancy seeing you back!💕

"Hi yes! I'm sorry I was just-", Lia let out a nervous chuckle but was cut off by the man.

"Ah no big deal haha" he let out a soft grin, "I'm Jay btw! And you're..."

"I'm Lia! The new intern", she cut him off.

"Ah welcome! Do you want me to show you the office?", Jay insisted and motioned his hands towards the glass entrance of the office. The building was grandiose and had glass windows. It looked like a 40-storey building that Lia saw in the movies. She was excited to start her internship but part of her was nervous too.

"Yes of course, thank you!", Lia nodded and followed Jay. The more steps Lia took towards the office, the more impressed she was. The office was constructed very uniquely, the entrance was a big glass door with two metal door handles with different signs. Inside the office there was a reception like it was an hotel, and beside it, was a cozy lounge-relaxing space for people who came for their interviews. The overall theme of the office was a combination of blue-white-grey colours.

Lia followed Jay as they took swift steps towards the reception.
"So Lia, what made you join this place?", Jay asked with a soft smile.

"Uh not much, I just really liked the overall idea of this place and this job. Plus my previous job wasn't the best ya know so yea", Lia tucked her hair behind and pressed her lips.

"Oh cool, I hope you enjoy here unlike most of us", Jay jolted.

Lia widened her eyes, "What do you mean?", she raised a brow.

"I mean you know, most of us joined because this job pays well. That's the only thing that's good about this place, however, the staff is umm....not the best honestly", Jay explained.

Lia stood there with her brows raised for a while thinking how people would judge her even more. Her anxiety grew worse now that she knew that the staff isn't the best. Fear crawled up into her mind.

"Hey?? Where are you lost, grab your ID!", Jay giggled and snapped his fingers.

"UHM sorry, yeah sure-", Lia let out a nervous chuckle and immediately grabbed her ID card. The lady who sat at the reception rolled eyes at Lia while handing it out to her. This made her even more nervous.

"Don't worry, I'm not like them", Jay whispered into her ears.

"I hope haha", Lia whispered back and they both giggled.

Lia began to look around the ground floor of the office trying to find where her workplace was. She looked back and forth when Jay shrugged her shoulder,
"Cmon, I'll show you your workplace"

"Yeah thanks!", Lia smiled and followed Jay.

They both walked away from the lounge area, towards the elevator. There were two elevators that had semi-transparent glasses and a blue and off-white themed door and buttons.

Jay pushed the arrow that pointed up and soon the door to the elevator opened. There was a lady inside it wearing a pencil skirt and a maroon shirt tucked inside, she had her hair up in a bun and was constantly staring into her pocket mirror with a wine red lipstick in her hands. She rolled eyes at Lia and Jay as she walked out of the elevator.

"God why is everyone so rude here like just smile?! It isn't that hard for fucks sake", Lia muttered.

"Hey step in, you're getting late", Jay snapped fingers again.

"Yeah- haha I'm sorry", Lia let out a nervous chuckle and stepped in as she saw the elevator door close. There was a relatively big mirror on the back wall of the elevator. Lia took a glance at herself and then at Jay. He was smiling at her. Lia felt a bit awkward, elevator had always been one of the most awkward places to be with someone according to Lia. She initiated a small conversation to avoid the awkward silence.

"Uh so Jay, How long have you been working here for?", Lia asked.

"Um not too long, a year or so", Jay responded.

"Ah I see", she smiled back.

There was a brief moment of silence between the two until there was sound and the elevator shuddered. They had reached the 12th floor.

"Oh god I'm appointed on the 12th floor??", Lia asked widening her eyes.

"Haha yes! You don't like it?", Jay giggled.

"No-I mean it's quite...High. I've never worked at such an height you know? My previous office was like 5 storied and I was at the 3rd floor".

"Aha, you'll get used to it don't worry," Jay giggled, "Plus there's a secret I'd like to tell you", he continued but in a hushed tone.

"Oh and what is it??", Lia raised a brow.

"Only the cool ones get to work on the 12th floor, like me", Jay whispered with a smirk.

"Haha so you work on this floor too??", Lia chuckled.

"Yes, I'm glad I'll be able to talk to you because my other colleagues are kind of jerks", Jay clicked his tongue.

"I'm glad too", Lia responded with a soft smile.

They both took steps towards the workplace. The interns gave Lia an intense stare. Like she popped out of some other planet, Lia tried to maintain eye contact but failed. She didn't try much and followed Jay's steps.

She was stunned everytime she looked around.
The working area looked as aesthetic as anything in the world.

Everyone had their own little cabin that was connected with each other. The color theme was off-white and grey patterns with a small green plant on each of the desks for a pop of colour. A huge book-shelf was placed right in front of the desks, at the back.

The interns working there were no less and had the most amazing fashion sense. Trousers, leather pants, jackets, shirts, and almost all the styles that one could possibly find. Everyone was busy on their computers and calls until Lia arrived.
Lia felt judged by the constant stares. She took a glance at everyone while Jay clapped his hands to grab everyone's attention.

"Hey everyone! This is our new intern, Lia Andrews. Please welcome her"
Everyone turned their eyes to look at Lia. Lia flashed a smile and waved at everyone,

"Hey!" , her voice quivered.

The guys seemed nice but the girls looked like they weren't happy to see Lia at all. A girl from her cabin rolled eyes at her and didn't even bother to say hi to her. Another girl faked a smile from her cabin and waved at her. Other girls did pretty much same except one lady, she looked like she was in her 40s. She wore a long red skirt with a black shirt underneath a vest. Her hair was twisted in a bun and her cat eye styled glasses rested on her forehead. She smiled at Lia.

"Hey young lady, Welcome!", she said in a high-pitched tone.

"Hey Lia! Good to have you here", a guy said.

"Hope you have a great time with us", some other guy said.

"Uh-hah.. Likewise", Lia stuttered, her heart was pounding out of her chest.

Jay saw her, she was fumbling, "Lia look I know it's your first day, don't worry. You've got this", he whispered.

Lia took deep breaths before she began to form sentences again, "Thanks Jay!" she whispered back,
"I look forward to working with y'all", Lia said out loud. Everyone flashed a smile and nodded at her. Her throat was feeling dry already. Maybe it was the first day anxiety.

"So Lia let me show you your cabinet or workspace or whatever you'd like to call it", Jay giggled and put his hand behind Lia's back, as he gestured her towards the cabinet rooms.
