It was an ordinary day for Monkey King. He could rest after all the journey west. Although he wondered where Liuer was, he took care of the mountain while he was traveling. He even talked to him about this trip and he agreed. Why had he left him then? It wasn't like that, thought the king. He was walking through the forest surrounding the mountain. As he ventured further, the atmosphere grew darker. There were so many plants that the light barely reached the cloth on which Wukong was walking. The golden monkey shivered in the cold. The plants was covered with frost. He didn't like it. He wanted to go back, but on the other hand he was curious what happened to this part of the forest. He kept walking. He found himself at the darkest point.
''Hah.. time to go back..'' he said to himself. He turned as he heard whispers. He didn't understand them, but he didn't like it. He had a bad feeling about this place. It must have been complained by the most horrible magic. But hey who the hell mess with Monkey King in his territory. He traced his golden vision to where he was. He fixed his gaze on a point in the distance. Someone was lying motionless. And Monkey Step knew this person very well. He ran to the dark-haired monkey, who was in a terrible state. All bored with blood. The Monkey King hoped that maybe it wasn't Liuer's blood, but he was wrong, it was the blood of his beloved. He knelt in front of him, took him in his arms. The dark-haired monkey's body looked as if it had been torn apart by something. His belly was ripped open. His face was bruised. His left eye was knocked out and measured at once. Fresh blood was still flowing from the wounds, warm blood. Liuer's clothes were drenched with new portions of blood every second. Despite this, Liuer's body felt cold to the touch. The warrior's face showed the question 'why didn't you save me my king?'. It was all terrifying. The ground he lay on was pure ice. There were ominous whispers in the air. Wukong grabbed his moon in his arms. He didn't want to believe what he was seeing and hearing. He put his head to Liuer's chest. He listened. He heard nothing but whispers. He couldn't concentrate because of it. His clothes were also soaked with blood. He held up his moon's head and his eyes met the eye of the corpse. Tears began to flow down the king's face, falling on Liuer's bloody scarf. ''Liuer please... No that can't be true. I'm begging you, speak to me... I...' said the king, counting on answers, but there were still only whispers. The king did not know what to do. He hid his face in his beloved's chest as if he hoped that his tears would give life.
The whispering stopped. This alarmed the king, who looked up. He looked around. No one was there, but he felt an ominous presence watching him closely.
''Who is there?! Who dares to mess with the Monkey King?!' he exclaimed. In response, he heard an ominous laugh. It wasn't what he expected. Why did it have to happen? Why... Wukong thought in despair.
''because destiny wanted it so'', finished the apparition, which stood in front of the monkey, which trembled with fear.
''What do you want? Is that your business?!" he snapped at her. The apparition circled the king, who still held Liuer in his arms. Wukong never took his eyes off the monster. He just looked like a ghost. Wukong had heard legends of such creatures once. They were ominous, craving chaos, but they were powerless. They were the spirits that stayed on earth. I used to be an ordinary soul that was overrun by darkness. They always asked for a favor. They didn't say what it was. the mortal who made a deal with them always found out at the end what the favor was. Thanks to this, the wraiths could cause wrath and wield it. Nothing could break their agreement.
''It's none of my business, but destiny that drew you to me..'' she said with a corpse smile.
''I'm sick of your games! What do you want!? Go away or you will regret life after death!'' said the furious king.
''Oh... You don't have to be so mean. I want to offer you my help that's all...''
''You're not fooling me. Ghosts like you always want something in return
''Favor for favor. Isn't that how the world works?''
'' How can you help me. Nothing can be done now!''
"I wouldn't be so sure... I can bring your beloved back to life..." she whispered in his ear.
"You're lying!!" he growled.
''Do you want to find out? What's the harm in trying? If he doesn't come to life, you won't owe me anything, and if he does, I'll ask for a favor this small in due time.''
She stretched out her pale deathly hand to Wukong "Do you want to have a happy life with your beloved again?"
"Do you want to be with him again?"
Wukong hesitated, but finally took the wraith's hand. The wraith smiled and then laughed, which the king didn't like.
"What now?" he asked.
''Let it be...'' she said and disappeared, her words echoing throughout the forest.
Wukong didn't understand this. He was still furious.
Until suddenly he heard: ''Wukong? What's going on?''
