The sky was bright and sunny once more. No sign of the storm that hit their ship. The teens were stranded on an island with no sign of Aime. It was a miracle that they all didn't drown.
They were all face down in the sand, washed up ashore. The sound of seagulls could be heard overhead. The island itself was small and had to be somewhere near the main island of the resort.
Shinobu coughed up sand as she sat up. The salt of the sea stung her eyes. "What the..." Her gaze trailed over everyone until it landed on Shuutaro. A pool of blood was formed beneath him. A direct consequence of his own katana being lodged into his torso. "Shuutaro!"
Shinobu crawled over to him. "Wake up!" She wanted to shake him but she feared that she would make the wound bigger. "Oh no— Shuutaro!" Fear clutched her heart like a hand made out of ice. If he had died here, she wouldn't know how to go on. "Please wake up!"
Her shouting urged the other two to see what was going on.
Nabiki took charge. Her experience with tending to Kuno from time to time taught her a lot of things. "Check his pulse. It's a lot of blood, but with the katana still in there he won't lose any more." In a weird way, it was what saved him. But if it wasn't for the its placement, he wouldn't be in this predicament at all.
Shinobu obliged and touched Shuutaro's wrist. His pulse was still there. He was alive much to her relief.
"Okay..." Nabiki further assessed the situation. "Once we take the blade out we're going to need something to stop the blood. Rip his shirt off."
Shinobu's face burned bright red at the mere thought. "What?"
"We're going to use it as a makeshift bandage." Nabiki informed her rather impatiently. She then kneeled next to Shinobu. "Do you want me to do it?"
Shinobu shook her head. Her hair softly slapped her face. "No... I-i got it." She promptly started ripping Shuutaro's shirt open, peeling it off of him. It initially stuck to his skin due to the salt water and blood.
Nabiki looked at Kuno. "Take the blade out on three. Shinobu and I will turn him over and block the blood from spurting."
Kuno nodded in compliance. The teens got into position and on three, the katana was dislodged from Shuutaro's side and the wound was bandaged with his shirt.
When the blade made exit, it caused Shuutaro great pain. It forced him into consciousness and made him scream. The sound caused all the birds in the vicinity to fly away.
"Shuutaro are you okay?!" With bloody hands, Shinobu clutched his body close to her.
As the situation sunk in, Shuutaro slowly embraced her back. "S-shinobu... What's going on?"
"We crashed." She told him. "You must've got stabbed when it happened."
"At least your katana made the trip." Kuno said. "My bokken is... Well it's broken." In his hands were two pieces of wood that was once his bokken.
If they were going to be stranded, a weapon would be useful. However, Shuutaro couldn't see the light of the situation as he was previously stabbed. Instead, he asked if anything else was salvaged.
"Take a look for yourself." Nabiki motioned around them. Pieces of the cruise ship were littered around. It consisted of anything from seats to tables to a bowling ball that must've escaped from the bowling alley. "Any of this can be used to make a shelter."
Shuutaro lifted his gaze. "Then let's start building."

As they were putting together a makeshift shelter out of ship shrapnel, Kuno pulled Nabiki aside. He remembered when they were much younger, hardly even friends when Nabiki lost her mother. But he had no idea it affected her that much. He assumed that she had taken it as well as her sisters and had a healthy relationship with their mother's passing.
"Are you doing okay?" he asked. Checking in on her was new for him. The words out of his mouth felt dry. He was used to everything being about him when it came to their friendship— or whatever one would label their transactional relationship. Kuno realized he didn't know the real Nabiki as well as he thought.
Kuno has his hand gently on her arm to which she pulled away. "Leave me alone Kuno."
Kuno. That alone stung more than anything she could say. She didn't use her pet name for him.
Nabiki had her back facing towards him as she picked up a broken chair.
"Allow me to carry that for you." Kuno reached around her to take the chair from her hands but she wouldn't give. He could easily pry it from her hands but he wouldn't. Nabiki was stiff and still refused to face him.
If she was cold before, she was even colder now. Regardless, some cracks were showing.
"Nabiki..." Kuno frowned. He didn't like seeing her this way. Usually she was his rock, not the other way around.
"You probably think I'm weak, don't you." she said suddenly. Her hair casts shadows on her face, obscuring her eyes. "Nabiki Tendo, the money hungry ice queen is not all she's cracked up to be."
Kuno stood there slack jawed, not knowing what to say. "Is it that surprising to you that you are a human?"
Nabiki let out a chuckle. "You're an idiot."
"Whilst that may be true, even a conniving girl such as yourself has feelings." Kuno gently took the chair from her and this time she let him.
"Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
Kuno smiled slightly. "You enjoy that.
"I do."
"Nabiki—"
Nabiki lifted her head to look at him expectantly. Her sadness slowly melted away. "Yes?"
Kuno's heart was lodged in his throat, preventing him from saying what he wanted to say. He swallowed. "Nevermind. We should check back with the others."
Nabiki bit back a sigh. "Right."
