"Come, my child."A soothing voice from a woman in her late 20s called out to the child behind her. Handing him a bowl of water and a towel, she gestured to him to go inside of the room.
"Remember to replace Norman's towel every 1 hour, you have your watch with you?" The boy nodded when he was asked. "Alright, you're good to go. I am so happy to have a reliable son that I could always count on, especially when it comes to his siblings." The 'mother' adored and praised the child. "It's only natural, Mama. They are my siblings, even though we all aren't blood related, our bond is thicker than blood."
A nine year old child of Gracefield house for adoption, named Zan. A sweet and kind boy and a loving brother to every child in the house of all ages. Their mother or their caretaker in the house, Isabella, had been training him to do house chores and cooking. He had also been taught how to tend wounds and common sickness like this one.
He was tasked to take care of Norman who got sick. "I'll take it from here, Mom. You're probably busy." The light brunette child smiled. "Alright then, I'll leave it to you. I'll check on you later after I finish." Isabella turned on her heel as she started to walk away and out of sight. Zan reached for the knob before turning and pushing the door open.
"Norman, my dear little brother, are you up?" Zan asked as soon as he walked in. The sound of shuffles on the blanket were heard and popped out a snowball head that Zan got pierced through his heart metaphorically due to the cuteness overload unfolding right in front of him.
"Brother Zan-!" Norman, a two year old boy, got up from his bed and couldn't hold his coughs much longer and so unleashed the loud sickness. The loud coughs made Zan go up to him quickly. He puts a hand on his fragile little shoulder and pushes him down lightly. "Rest, Norman. It's alright, I'll be here until you recover." He gently smiled at Norman who's breathing rather in difficulty. "Brother Zan..?"
"Yes, dear sweet?" Zan replied as he took the small towel from Norman's forehead. "Is Emma.. and Ray alright?"
Putting the new towel on his forehead, he replied, "Yes, they are, but they are worried sick about you. They want to play with you already so let's recover quickly, okay Norman?" He only nodded.
As the older brother, Zan cherishes all his siblings younger than him and respects his older siblings, though the older ones seem more childish than him and rely on Zan a lot. But, their oldest had been acting very weird lately. He wants to confront them about their questionable behavior but due to a lot of chores in the house, he didn't have the chance.
As Norman closed his eyes, Zan swiped his sweaty and wet snow white locks upwards. Norman smiled at the touch and leaned on it. What melts Zan's heart is when his younger siblings rely and/or look up to him, just like now. He liked to be their comfort and someone whom they could share secrets with- like a refuge.
To Norman, his Brother Zan will always be the one they could count on. He may not be that smart, he got decent scores but the way he takes care of everyone in the house is way beyond his average score. He would sometimes catch him reading some books in the library whenever he had time and had finished chores.
Zan leans down and kisses Norman's temple in comfort. It caught Norman off guard but soon relaxed since it was just his brother Zan. He always does this to everyone below his age as a caring gesture which the kids appreciate most. "Thank you, Brother Zan."
"You are always welcome, Norman." Zan smiled in felicity.
A burst from the door ws heard startling the two occupants of the room. A redheaded child came to visit.
"Norman!"
"E-Emma?"
"Oh! Emma, what are you doing here?"
