"Brother Zan, Ray, wake up."
Zan blinked a few times before realizing that the kids were already running around and putting their shoes on. "I am awake, my dear brother Norman." He pushed himself up and turned to Norman with open arms and a smile, waiting for Norman to reciprocate. Norman reached out to him and he was hugged tight, "Good morning Brother Zan."
"Good morning to you too, Norman. You guys head over to the dining, okay? I'll just wake Ray and catch up. Mama's probably made breakfast already." After saying that, he laid a kiss on his temple before putting him down. Norman knew it wasn't the same as before. His Brother Zan's smile was strained unlike before, the gentle kiss was lacking emotion. What happened?
Zan seemed to understand Norman's expression so, "I just had a long night, my dear Norman. Run along, now." He caressed the albino's cheek before sending him off. Norman nodded before turning his back on them. He watched everyone leave and their second oldest, Harriet, gave him a long stare before looking down and catching up to the other siblings.
Shaking the bad thoughts, he laid back down to wake Ray up. "Ray.. my darling sweet Ray, wake up." He said in a soothing voice. The sight in front of him is golden, just another innocent child being comfortable with his presence, he wondered how well he'd do without them.
Ray rubbed his good eyes and looked up to see his Brother Zan poking his cheek. "Stop it, brother." Zan retreated his hand. "C'mon, let's have breakfast, the others already went ahead."
The two got out of bed and head to the dining hall, hand in hand. Zan found Ray's sudden change of behavior suprising but not like he doesn't like it. For him, it was like Ray is finally warming up to him and relying on him. For Ray, he had other reasons.
Running towards the woods, Harriet and Zan were catching up to the time. They have to scope out the outside or else, Michael's death would be in vain. Silence was shared between them, only the sound of the grass as they stepped, crunched.
"Brother Harriet, how distant was the wall?"
"If we cross the short round bar fence, the wall shouldn't be too far behind." Harriet told him as he conserve his energy at the same time. They continued to run with their young legs, onwards to the path for their freedom.
As they ran, Zan noticed a white cloth swaying by the wind, attached on Harriet's hip. Maybe that's what they'll use to climb up, he thought. Jumping pass the said round bars, with Harriet's athletic skill, he jumped higher in order to not waste time but Zan having short legs and not really that athletic, he had to cross the bars with a bit difficulty but tried to not waste time and catch up to Harriet.
In the distance, Zan could see a gray stone wall. He awed at the height of the flat surfaced border. Harriet quickly went up a tree and tied a long cloth that was tied together in order to make a long rope. Zan watched the older one climb higher trees before jumping to the top of the wall. Harriet dropped the last length of the rope and helped Zan to climb up the wall.
Zan is light, for the most part and that makes their plan even more effective.
Upon witnessing the outside part, their eyes laid on the continuous forest but before that, there was a cliff. Harriet and Zan dreaded this situation. "H-How.. do we escape everyone with this gap, Brother Harriet?" Pressure builds up the older one, his eyes frantically searching for a way- the rope. "Our plan last night was changed. After scoping the layout of the outside, we should, no matter what, get you out there and find help."
Harriet quickly untied the rope of cloth and made a shorter one. When he acquired his material, he tied it around Zan, "This is to make sure you get to the other side." Panic rises on the younger one, he wasn't told of the sudden change of plans. "B-Brother Harriet-! I- please.. I'm scared.."
