Peter sighed as he got ready for work, he had taken a bunch of photos of himself as Spider-Man for the Daily Bugle. It wasn't because he agreed with the opinions John Jonah. Jameson had about the masked vigilante - obviously as he was the vigilante - but this was an easy way to earn money, as all he needed to do was take pictures of himself.

The spider arrived at work and walked in, handing the pictures to his boss.
"Thank you Parker, give this check to the receptionist and she'll give you your money" he told, not even looking at the boy.

Peter sighed and went out to the receptionist, and got his money. He put it in his pocket but remembered he had been wanting to ask for a full-time job there, as he was the only one able to capture the vigilante in photos, not that he expected his boss to comply but it couldn't hurt to ask.

He knocked on the door and went through, but what met with a sigh.
"You got your money Parker! Scram" John told him and he stopped in his track. This was a bad idea.

"I was thinking if I could get a full-time job here? Seeming as I'm the only supplier for pictures of Spider-Man?" He asked and Jonah stopped in his track and stared at him.
"No! If I wanted to I could probably find a better photographer for him!" He seemed to stop and think for a moment.

"Unless you actually know the identity of the mystery-man" he told and Peter froze in place and his shoulders tensed. "Aha!" Bursted the other man and pointed his pencil at the boy. "Tell me right now young man!" He ordered but Peter only shook his head.

JJJ opened his mouth to talk again but a grating laugh interrupted them and Peter froze in terror as he recognized it as the Goblin. A small bomb flew in and broke window. Peter acted quickly, he ran up to JJJ, pulled him out of his chair and pushed him to the corner of the room before covering him with his body.

The bomb exploded and glass shards and splinters flew everywhere, some hitting the teens body and covering him in cuts.
"Parker! Call your friend Spider-Man!" JJJ ordered and Peter blinked surprised.

"The menace? I didn't know you wanted a menace to save you?" He said and John J. Jameson sighed. "I only said that for publicity! I'm a fan and before I knew it I had an image to uphold" he explained.
The Goblin flew through the window and came with another malicious laugh.

The Goblin got ready to attack and threw another bomb. Peter grabbed it and threw it out the window but it exploded midway and sent both him and the Goblin flying backwards.

Peter groaned but sat up again. He felt on his wrist where his trustworthy web-shooters were. But he needed a mask. He couldn't risk revealing his identity to Goblin.

Fortunately, JJJ had paid a great sum of money to get 'the menace's' old suit on display to he grabbed his boss' hand and ran for their live to where he had it on display.

He made sure no one were looking and webbed it to himself. JJJ didn't say anything in shock but followed the boy to the bathroom, Goblin saw them run there as well. As quickly as possible Peter changed into his suit and crawled up on the ceiling, leaving Jonah alone in one of the stalls.

"Where are you!?" Goblin grinned and Peter lowered himself behind the villain.
"Looking for me Gobby?" Spider-Man asked behind him, witty as always. The green man turned around in shock and stood face to upside-down-face with the vigilante.

The two of them had a fight while all the employees fled the scene. After a while, Peter hit the Goblin and broke the eyes of the mask.

They stared each other in the eye and the teen could've sworn he had seen them before. Gobby pushed the spider off of him, clawing a big wound in his chest before rushing out with warnings that he would be back.

Peter groaned in pain and crawled back to a wall to support him. He pulled off his mask with a painful sigh and ripped the top of his suit off to get a better look at the wounds. His boss came in the room, the man had a couple of scratches on his face and body where his shirt was ripped, but otherwise unharmed.

"Oh my god! Parker! Are you alright!?"
"What does it look like sir?" The boy groaned and cried out as he moved uncomfortably and his wound started bleeding again. He looked down at himself, the wounds were deep and painful, but not lethal.

"I'll survive Mr. Jameson" he whimpered and tried to get up, the older gave him a hand and supported him to the bathroom where Peter assured the worried man that he could take it from there. He got a clean towel and used it to dry up the blood from his chest, he then just got his clothes on and limped outside to his boss who looked absent.

"Peter, I am so sorry for all the nasty and awful things I've said to you! I assure you that I did not mean any of them" he stated and then looked down at his chest where blood was starting to show through his T-shirt. Peter sighed and pulled his hoodie over his head to cover it up.

"Don't you need an ambulance? Let me call one-" he started but Peter quickly interrupted him. "No! Then I'd have to explain why I heal around 8 times faster than normal humans!"
He exclaimed and JJJ nodded. "Well, then I'd give you the job you asked for, anything else I can do for you? You just saved my life" John J Jameson asked and Peter nodded with a groan.

"Can you give me a lift to my friend Ned's place? He has the medical supplies to stitch me up, I think I remember the adress" Peter explained and started to slur his words, he wasn't really able to stand up right anymore and had started experiencing dizzy spells. JJJ nodded and led the teenage hero out to his car and gave him the promised ride.

Peter walked up to the door, nodded at JJJ to drive away again and then knocked. The door was opened quickly by Ned who lit up with a smile at the sight of his best friend, then the smile faded as he instantly knew something was off. And then Peter fainted into his arms.

The teen woke up a few hours later a d was met with the worried expression of his bff.
"You worried me there Pete! You can't just arrive at my house while bleeding out!" Ned scolded but his voice couldn't hide the relief washing over him.

"Would you rather I just bleed out in an alleyway?" he asked and Ned shook his head. "No, I guess you have a point, what happened?"

"The Goblin attacked my work-place, and now my boss knows my identity"
"Where did you say you worked?"
"The Daily Bugle" Peter muttered and Ned shot up. "WHAT!? John Jonah Jameson Jr. knows your identity!? That's bad" He said and turned on the TV and got to an interview with JJJ.

"I'm sorry for lying to you all, Spider-Man isn't the menace I made him up to be, he saved me and my employees earlier today and thanks to him I am still alive, he didn't care about the things I had said about him, all he saw was a person who needed help and for that I am forever thankful. Spider-Man is a hero, and one we need but doesn't deserve" he stated and Peter giggled to himself.

Who would have thunk that John Jonah Jameson Jr. was a Spider-Man fan?
