002. first day of school

Miranda slams her hand on the alarm clock, groaning.

"Hey. Isn't your first class at 9?" Jess asks.

"So?" Miranda whines.

"So, it's 8:30. You gotta get up." Jess says.

"Who cares?" Miranda huffs.

"Come on. You can't be this dejected when it's only the first day." Jess chuckles. Miranda only lets out a small grunt. "Miranda." She shakes the girl.

"Leave me to die." Miranda says, rolling over. Jess rolls her eyes at her roommate's dramatics.

"I'm not gonna let you flunk out immediately, Miranda. Come on." Jess pulls her into a sitting position.

"Noo." Miranda whines.

"Get dressed, get some food in your system, and go to class." Jess pats her cheek.

Miranda walks into her second class of the day, psychology. She looks around at the crowded classroom, spotting Carmen. The brunette waves at her, Miranda offering a small wave back. People are already sitting by her so the blonde tries to find a different seat.

Spotting one, she goes to sit down but stops when she notices who the guy on the left is. Miranda huffs, turning to find another one, but can't seem to spot a single empty chair.

"Damn it." She whispers to herself. She huffs, turning back to the empty seat. Quietly whining, she trudges over to the desk and takes the seat.

"Oh. Hey." Sam gives her a smile she just wants to slap right off.

"Shut up." Miranda grumbles.

"Good to see you, too, popcorn girl." He grins, Miranda's glare only hardening.

"Do you not understand social cues?" Miranda questions. "You know, like, how I obviously don't wanna associate myself with you in any way, shape, or form." Sam laughs.

"I, uh, I do have a question." Sam says.

"I don't care." Miranda says.

"Those two girls you were with during our first lovely meeting." Sam says, Miranda rolling her eyes. "Could you introduce me to the taller one?"

"No. No, I am not introducing you to anybody. Hit on women in your own time. Don't drag me into it." Miranda says.

"Okay. Okay, sorry." Sam says. "Could you at least give me her name?"

"No. That is personal information and I don't know you well enough to want to share that kind of information." Miranda says.

"Fair enough." Sam nods.

"Hey." Carmen catches up with Miranda after psychology.

"Hey." Miranda smiles.

"You done for the day or you got more?" Carmen asks.

"Uh... I still have English in a couple hours. Then history after that." Miranda says.

"Wanna get lunch?" Carmen asks. "Cafeteria or somewhere near campus."

"Sure." Miranda nods.

"Hey, who was that cute guy you were sitting next to?" Carmen asks.

"Somebody I would like to forget exists. He's a pain in the ass." Miranda says.

"Noted." Carmen nods. "He's cute, though."

"No, he's not. He looks like your generic white boy with brown hair." Miranda says.

"But he's hot and adorable at the same time. Plus, he's, like, 6'2", maybe 6'3". The taller the better. Don't even get me started on the dimples." Carmen comments.

"Ugh. You sound like Jess." Miranda grimaces.

"She crushing on him?" Carmen smiles.

"Big time. It's annoying." Miranda huffs. "And she doesn't even know his name. She only met him after he spilled coffee on me."

"Ooh." Carmen winces.

"So, how'd your first day of school go?" Bella excitedly asks her younger sister.

"Terrible. I got stuck next to coffee boy in psych." Miranda grumbles.

"Ooh." Bella grins.

"I'm sorry. Does everybody love him or something?" Miranda questions.

"Hey, you know me. Older guys for the win." Bella says.

"Whatever." Miranda rolls her eyes.

"Is he really that bad?" Bella laughs.

"Well, I try to talk to him as little as possible, so..." Miranda says.

"So he could be the nicest guy in the world and you just had a terrible first meeting." Bella says.

"First impressions are everything, Belly." Miranda remarks.

"Okay." Bella rolls her eyes. "Well, I gotta go. I promised my friend dinner. You cool?"

"Yeah, I'll... go to the cafeteria or make ramen or something." Miranda dismisses.

"Okay." Bella ruffles her hair. "Love ya!"

"Bye." Miranda says as Bella leaves.
