It's now mid October, college going as well as it can be. Miranda is currently sitting on her bed and doing homework when Jess bursts in.

"I got a date tonight." Jess grins.

"That's great." Miranda smiles. "Who?"

"Um..." Jess hesitates. "It's with Sam."

"Sam?" Miranda asks.

"Coffee Boy." Jess clarifies.

"What?" Miranda questions. "Wha-- are you serious?"

"Mm-hmm." Jess excitedly nods.

"Jess..." Miranda whines.

"Oh, come on. Look, I-- I know you guys had a crappy first meeting, but he's really a sweet guy." Jess insists.

"No, he isn't. He's a giant, stupid, careless dweeb." Miranda says.

"He's nice. He's gonna be a lawyer, he doesn't really talk to his family, he's funny." Jess informs.

"I really don't care. Just make sure he's not picking you up here, okay? I don't wanna see his face." Miranda says.

"Yeah. Yeah, sure. Got it." Jessica nods. She turns to her bed, wincing.

Jess is finishing up getting ready for her date with Sam. There's a knock on the door and Miranda opens it, finding the lanky man.

"Jess." The blonde girl whines. "You said he wasn't coming here."

"Whoops." Jess sheepishly smiles. "Did I forget to mention that was the entire plan?"

"You suck." Miranda tells her, walking back to her bed.

"Hi." Jess smiles at Sam.

"Hey." He smiles. "You look beautiful."

"Thanks." She smiles. "You look great, too."

"Thanks." Sam lets out a small laugh. "So, um..."

"Right. Okay, see you later, Miranda. Don't get too bored without me." Jess winks.

"Get better taste in men." Miranda retorts.

"Be nice." Jess hisses.

"Bye, Miranda." Sam smirks, the said girl glaring at him. "Sorry. Popcorn Girl." Miranda's eyes squint in annoyance, Sam snickering as he shuts the door.

"Dick." Miranda mumbles.

"Can you be nice, please?" Jess asks.

"She started it." Sam defends. Jess rolls her eyes.

"Let's go!" Miranda calls out, her and Carmen waiting for Jess to be done getting ready for the Halloween party.

"Okay, okay, sorry." Jess rushes out in her angel costume. "How do I look?"

"Hot. Now let's go." Carmen urges, getting up. "Is Sam meeting you there?"

"Oh, no. He hates Halloween." Jess says.

"Hates Halloween? How does he hate Halloween?" Carmen questions.

"I don't know. Says he doesn't like all the masks and something about "monsters coming out." He was kind of vague." Jess says. "I tried to get him to come, but..." She shrugs.

"Well, works for me. Won't have to deal with his annoying face." Miranda grins.

"Hey, he's my boyfriend. At least pretend you like him." Jess says.

"Why?" Miranda frowns. Jess gives her a look. "Oh, my. How I'll miss him so." She mockingly pouts.

"Very funny." Jess chuckles, smacking her friend in the back with her purse, Miranda laughing. "Seriously, just act civil, maybe. All I ask."
