Miranda feels an arm wrap around her abdomen making her let out a small laugh.

"Are you really a cuddler?" She asks, looking back at Sam.

"Maybe..." Sam starts to pull his arm back. Miranda grabs his wrist, pulling his arm closer. "Okay." He mumbles.

"I still hate you." Miranda says.

"I hate you, too." Sam says. "But, uh... are we gonna have some more hate sex or...?"

"Frenemies with benefits?" Miranda asks.

"Maybe, uh... maybe we should try out something more... with all the benefits, of course." Sam says.

"Something more?" Miranda asks. "I mean, I wouldn't mind just focusing on some benefits." She smirks.

"Okay, well, since everybody weirdly thinks we're in love with each other or something, what if... we-- what if we went out on a date?" Sam suggests.

"A-- a date?" Miranda asks.

"If you want, yeah." Sam nods. Miranda bites her lip as she tries to consider. "I can give you time to think about it." He says.

"Okay." She says.

"We can focus on benefits, though." Sam smirks, immediately going for her sweet spot.

Miranda ended up agreeing to the date, getting ready for it.

"Is it too much?" Miranda frowns, looking down at her dress that's a little nicer than casual but not super fancy.

"You look gorgeous." Jess smiles.

"This isn't weird for you?" Miranda asks. "I feel like if you fell in love with my ex-boyfriend, I'd be weirded out."

"Fell in love?" Jess smirks.

"Okay, I realize what I said, but that is not what I meant." Miranda says. "And don't change the subject because you haven't answered the question." Jess softly laughs.

"It-- it is a little weird, but it'll pass. Maybe you guys don't see it completely yet, but you do like each other. Just give it a chance. I'm gonna spend the night at Carmen's. In case the date ends up here somehow."

Jess kisses Miranda on the cheek before grabbing a small bag she packed and leaving.

Miranda is pacing, nervously biting her lip. She freezes when there's a knock on the door, her heartbeat speeding up.

"Fuck." She whispers. She goes over to the door and opens it, Sam standing there in a suit, but he doesn't have a tie on, and he's holding a box of chocolates.

"Hi." Sam says, glancing her up and down. Miranda realizes it's not lust in his eyes, but some sort of adoration.

"Hi." She mutters. "You-- you dressed nice."

"So did you." Sam says. "Yo-you look good. Pre-pretty. Beautiful." He tries to decide on one.

"Thanks." She says. "Um, the, uh--" She motions to the box.

"Oh! Uh, ye-yeah. Yeah. Here." He holds it out to her and she takes it. "I-- I was gonna get flowers, but I-- I know you prefer chocolate over flowers."

"Oh. I-- I didn't know you knew that." Miranda says.

"Yeah." Sam nods. "I-- yeah." He awkwardly smiles. "Should we really do this?"

"I'm starving and you offered to pay, so, yes, we're doing this." Miranda smiles. She puts the box of chocolates on her desk and grabs her purse, shutting the door after she walks out.

"Food. Right." Sam nods. "You're not gonna talk the whole time, are you?" He winces.

"Well, the other day, you did say bug you later... and, Coffee Boy, it's later." She grins.

Sam gives her a fake smile and she pats his cheek, walking past him.

"Okay." He mumbles, following her.

The two are at the restaurant and sitting across from each other. They just ordered, now stuck with each other for a bit.

"Did you really have to buy the most expensive thing on the menu?" Sam whines.

"Dude, I know you're not broke, and that food sounded really good, so, yes." Miranda says, Sam rolling his eyes.

"I have never seen you eat steak." Sam says.

"Because I can never afford good steak. My dad makes steak, that's the only time I eat it. I'm not about to get steak at some 1 star diner." Miranda remarks.

"Whatever." Sam mumbles. "I'm getting you back for this."

"Yeah? How?" Miranda questions.

"You're not gonna know until it happens. Ruins the surprise." He smiles. Miranda rolls her eyes.

"You know, you'd think you'd be less annoying if you wanted to date me." Miranda remarks.

"Well, I've been annoying you since the very first move in day and here we are, so I don't think I'll be stopping now." Sam smiles.

"Fine. But in that case, I'm never shutting up." Miranda grins.

"You'll shut up sometimes." Sam smirks.

"Shut up." She hisses, slapping him with her napkin and Sam laughs.

"So... were the last two hours completely mind numbing?" Sam asks as they stand outside her dorm room.

"I... suppose I don't wanna shoot myself in the head." Miranda says. "Maybe the foot." Sam laughs.

"So... friends with benefits? Frenemies with benefits? A... uh, something more." Sam says.

"I love when you're acting like a nervous wreck." Miranda grins. Sam sighs and rolls his eyes. "We can... test out the something more thing. Mostly cause I just want the sex and free food." She winks at him.

Sam lets out a small laugh.

"Well, you already got the free food." Sam says.

"And now onto the sex." Miranda grins. She puts her hand on the back of his neck and pulls him down, kissing him. Sam reaches for her hands, grabbing her keys. He eventually manages to unlock the door, the two stumbling in and he shuts the door.
