Three

"Uncle Charlie?" I'm visiting Uncle Charlie at his work since I've got lunch then study hall, I'm going to Forks High. Mom and Martin left a few days ago and I told Martin what to do, go to Rebecca who will do what I've been doing "Can I ask you something?"

"Violet?" He looks at me confused "Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

Nodding my head "I have study hall, came down to ask you something"

"Of course" I sit down "what's going on?"

"My dad?" I ask "when and how did he die?"

He looks shocked "From what your mom told me and what I found out he died in a car accident—drunk driver hit your dad, he died a couple years after you were born...didn't your mom tell you? My brother Paul?"

"She told me he didn't want me" he looks taken aback "that he ran away—and when I asked before Uncle Paul just" he looked at me shocked then angered "he didn't know what mom told me, they got into a verbal fight"

Shaking his head angered "Your father wanted you Violet, I want to make that clear right now. When he found out about you he wouldn't stop bragging to me and Paul about how excited he was to be your father, he even brought you up to Forks many times"

"What did he look like?" I ask

"You don't know?" He asks, I shake my head no "I have some pictures at home, didn't your mom have any?"

"I don't know" muttering "we weren't allowed to mention my dad, my older sister Rebecca asked a few times since she vaguely remembered him but mom snapped at her"

"I've got photos at home" he assured me "don't worry—but yeah, your father loved you with all his heart. He never cried much but the day you were born he cried" if my dad loved me that much, then why did mom lie? Was it to make things easier on herself?

~Time Skip~

"What?" Rebecca asks "your dad has been dead all this time?" Bella is out with her friend Jacob as I'm here talking to Rebecca "how are you feeling?"

"Angry" I tell her "sad—I'm looking through these photos and it's clear that my dad wanted me how he had so many photos and I'm watching these videos and...why would mom lie?"

"I don't know" she mutters "but mom's doing better, she's back on her meds"

"Good" I say "call me if anything changes"

"I will" promising "Martin's doing better. So the guy I've been seeing wants to meet mom, you and Martin"

"Really?" I ask "your dating?"

"Don't act so shocked" scoffing

"I am because neither of us has good history with men" I remind her

"You have no history" she reminds me "are you asexual?"

"No"

"Are you sure?" She asks

Rolling my eyes "I'm sure...I just haven't met the one yet"

"Right" sarcastically agreeing "the one..."

"I know you don't believe in soulmates but I do" I remind her "now...how serious are you?"

"We're taking it one step at a time" she says

"Should I tell Martin that he's going to be an uncle anytime soon?" I joke

"Your pregnant?" She gasps "oh my god! Your like that Virgin Mary!" Rolling my eyes "no—so have you killed Bella?"

"No" laughing at her question "though I should given how often she screams in her sleep, I'll take mom asking for Diana over this"

"That bad?" She asks

"The girl is using her college savings to repair old broken motorcycles" I tell her "it would be one thing if she used money from a job but she's using money her parents have been saving for her"

"Wow" Rebecca whistles "does your uncle know?"

"No" I find a picture of my dad and Rebecca, I turn it over and see writing.

The day I became a father

"Violet?" Rebecca asks

"What memories do you have of my dad Bex?" I ask as I stare at the photo.

"Not much" she says "why?"

"I just found a photo of you and my dad" I tell her "on the back it says the day I became a father...he didn't become a father with me but with you...my dad saw you as his own"

She's silent before asking "He did?"

"He did" confirming as I look at all these photos "I wish I knew him"

"I know how you feel" agreeing with me "it makes me wonder if my dad is alive"

"And what life would be like if our dads were here" adding the unspoken sentence.
