Me
"You don't have to compliment if you don't want to. There's probably not much to say."

Demetrius
"Actually there's a lot to say."

Me
"Really? Omg do I have a terrible smile. Omg I knew it that's why I barely look at myself in the mirror."

Honestly I was kind of panicking after I typed that. Demetrius must've noticed my shaking he held onto my shoulder trying to calm me down. He showed me his screen of what he was going to send.

I was going to say I appreciate your smile a lot. You always have the brightest smile no matter what. Even when you're mad about something you're always really positive about it instead of keeping a grudge. You probably see me smiling so much because of yours. It's infectious and genuine. Even if you would want to see it in the mirror. I would want to see it to know that you're happy. Seeing you happy makes me happy to be around you every single day.

We've only known each other for a couple months and he says this.

My eyes filled with tears.

Happiness

Joy

Sadness

Anger

I don't know what I was feeling. I felt like someone was actually seeing me for me.

I got up and jumped into Demetrius' arms.

Sobbing.

I just couldn't stop.

He continuously rubbed my back and stayed quiet as I cried.

I pulled away from the hug. Wiped my eyes then grabbed my phone.

Me
"That's literally the nicest thing someone has ever said to me. Thank you so much. I can't explain how much it means to me. I appreciate you so much and I'm so happy you're in my life."

Demetrius
"So am I. Sorry if this is a touchy topic but does your dad not compliment you?"

Me
"What?"

Demetrius
"Well you said it's the nicest thing someone has ever said. Does your dad not compliment you?"

Me
"Are dads supposed to compliment their daughters?"

Demetrius
"Well parents in general are supposed to show a lot of l love towards their child. I've seen how much your mom loves you but you don't just need love from your mom. You look up to your dad a lot. Don't you?"

I never really thought of that.

Me
"I mean I guess so. I don't really see him that much anymore so I haven't recently felt that kind of love a father gives their daughter. Actually I don't think I felt it before at all. Does. That mean he doesn't love me? Is that why he's not here?"

Demetrius didn't respond. Instead he just wrapped his arms around me and I just sat there. I couldn't possibly cry. Why would I cry about this man that doesn't care for me.

Who even cries for a man these days?

I held onto Demetrius really tightly.

Just thinking about it. Our bodies fit really well together. He's very muscular, he's very fit and you can just tell he works out. Then there's me who's small and I don't work out but I still fit.

He makes me feel comfortable.

Comfort

His comfort feels much more genuine than my dads love.

Isn't that something?

I held onto him tightly.

Eventually the hug ended but I could still feel his warmth.

Me
"Alright it's getting pretty late. Did you want to stay over?"

Demetrius
"Would you mind if I did? I don't mind sleeping on the floor."

Me
"Are you kidding me? You are now my new personal teddy bear. Do you know how comfortable your hugs are? I was about to fall asleep just a second ago."

Demetrius
"You're so dramatic"

He text then he grabbed my laptop and the blanket and started heading down the ladder.

Me
"Demetrius, we have an issue."

Demetrius
"What? What happened."

Me
"As much as I loved getting up here. I'm scared to go down."

Demetrius
"Hm okay hold up. I'll bring down your laptop and blanket. I'll be right at the bottom making sure you won't fall."

Me
"Are you going to hold onto the ladder"

Demetrius
"Sure if that helps"

Me
"But what if I fall?"

Demetrius
"Then I'll most likely catch you "

Me
"Most likely?"

Demetrius
"I'll catch you."
