chapter 40 Yolanda's summer camp counselor job

when the summer months begin she thought to herself that she needed a new perspective on a summer job that could help with the rest of July and August it wasn't a big deal because she has worked with kids in the past as a teacher and how hard can one summer camp counselor job be at this point in time so without hesitation she simply thought about for a few weeks before deciding if that's the best time to start volunteering as camp counselor because she knew that she would need some help with some things as she reviewed the schedule for summer camp that was specifically set in July and August so she counted on many days a week that would work for her schedule and sure enough she found the days that worked for her so well it was Fridays were she had to be at at in morning and afternoon so basically she was going to work two hours a day on Fridays only because she knew that was what she could handle at the moment in her schedule and it seemed to fit with her other days that she was off from work. as soon as she got a schedule for the summer camp that sunny afternoon she read over it while she was sitting on the couch 🛋️ she noticed that the summer camp counselor schedule was very accurate for all who worked as camp counselor before the camp starts on July 7.
so she continued to read through all of the information that was given to all of the camp counselors and what time they had to there to start volunteering at a elementary school and then she saw the address to where it was located on the summer schedule and so she wrote everything down that was on the first section of the schedule and then there was a another section of the schedule that she looked over and she knew what was expected of her as a summer camp counselor.

as soon as she finishes looking through the whole schedule for summer camp she instantly writes down the dates of the camp and what time she had to be there specifically for her schedule so that way she wouldn't forget where this camp was located at it was located in Olympia which was only 21 minutes from her house so she wrote down the directions to centennial elementary school for Fridays for the summer camp counselor position so she continued to get all the information for the school and driving directions as well and she found the information on the website so she went over to her printer to print it out when she printed the form for the camp counselor job she thought it might be helpful if she could get more info on the camp counselor position and so she decided to phone a friend at this time of day unfortunately her friend wasn't available when she picked up the phone and so she left a voicemail and contacted someone by the name of nicoleta to find out what the volunteer job included in the summer camp schedule.

(yolanda phoned nicoleta for more details on the summer camp schedule)
'hi nicoleta I'm curious about this one' said Yolanda on the other line while talking to nicoleta.
nicoleta replied with a smile and then proceeded to answer all of my questions about the summer camp and what was expected of me when I start volunteering at the school.
'so you need to be be prepared to work two hours a day and then you get a break in between sessions so that you can rest only for an hour and then you have the second half of summer camp volunteering until 2:30 🕝 is there anything else that i might have missed please let me know because I'm here to explain anything that you need to know about this week and next week and so forth' nicoleta replied while she was talking to Yolanda about it all.
'okay thanks for all of your help nicoleta I definitely have a better understanding of what is expected of me when I arrive at the camp this week' says Yolanda while finishing up a few things on the list for next week's camp.
'you are so welcome' said nicoleta
will I see you at the school on Friday July 7 at 8:00am in the morning? asked Yolanda while waiting for a response from Nicoleta on the end of the line.
'yes actually I will be doing both sessions this week morning sessions and afternoon sessions with the kids regardless if I can keep up with all of the kids that run around the whole day and sometimes they will not behave properly so be prepared for that as well you'll have to be a little strict with some of them just depends on the kid but otherwise you will have a great time with your kids and you might make a difference for a few kids that are not used to being around other people but you will get used to it so you might be alternating between them so you'll need to know each of their behaviors to make a decision which is difficult at times so be cautious when dealing with them as well' said nicoleta as she sat down on the couch while talking on the phone to Yolanda.
'well I got to get going now I'm glad that I could help you out there with the summer camp counselor schedule so please don't hesitate to call me if you have any more questions about the camp' replies nicoleta as she walks over the kitchen to start cooking dinner for tonight. 
'okay bye then nicoleta have a great night my friend' said Yolanda while walking over to the kitchen counter to hang up the phone and it made a clicking sound when she hung up the phone after talking to nicoleta on the phone for about an hour or so.
as soon as she hung up the telephone she went back to her normal routine of looking at the rest of the paperwork that was on the table and she had mentioned that she had to get up super early that morning so she decided to take the time to collect the papers and then upstairs to set her alarm for that particular day that she had to get up and get things ready the night before.
so she ended up going to bed early that night so she can start fresh again tomorrow morning.
the next morning was a bit of a delay because she woke up so early before her alarm went off and she made herself some breakfast that was pancakes with some chocolate chips on top of pancakes 🥞 with syrup on top to make it creamy.
as soon as she finished eating her breakfast she got the car keys and got in her car to drive to the local gas station before she ran out gas because she was low on fuel so once Yolanda got off the side of station to pump her gas she saw her friend nicoleta at the same gas station where she was going to get her gas for her car as well.

(Yolanda runs into nicoleta at the gas station)
'wow I didn't realize you would be here' said Yolanda while pumping gas into her car.
'yeah I just saw was your car and realized it was you all this time' saying nicoleta as she finally pulled up next to Yolanda at the gas station.
'what a coincidence that you would be here in the same spot were I pumped my gas at this station' 🚉 replied Yolanda as she finished pumping gas ⛽️
while they waited for both of their vehicles to be filled up with gas they had a lot of time to talk about life and other issues that presented themselves as well and they had a great conversation until it was time to go to the centennial elementary school which was in Olympia and nicoleta offer to help Yolanda by asking her for directions to the school and she suggested that I follow her instead of going through with directions on a gps to get her there so she agreed to tag along and with that they both have made it to school and parked in the playground of the school.
'so here's the school' said nicoleta showing Yolanda the school 🏫
'wow it's alot more bigger than I imagined it would be' replied Yolanda while looking around the whole school
'that's because it's a elementary school and we decided to volunteer here instead of Central Park in Olympia' said nicoleta as she went over to see the rest of team that was there for the first day of summer camp.
'so you know all of these people? 'asked Yolanda
'yeah I've been coming here for about a year and this is my second year doing this so I yeah I everybody here as well so let me introduce you to my friends okay come on now' nicoleta replies as she drags Yolanda by the hand. 
once nicoleta helps Yolanda get comfortable with the fact that she will be a good friend to all of the girls and boys that attended summer camp that year she continued to be Yolanda's friend for a long time and Yolanda eventually became friends with some of nicoleta's friends as well because she never really had any friends at the camp that nicoleta attended a year before Yolanda came to summer camp with her.
as many weeks go by she was definitely comfortable with the idea that she could help be a supportive person for those kids that didn't have a relationship with people very well but that soon changed when she started volunteering with nicoleta by her side and it was something so magnificent that she couldn't not continue to work with kids the rest of the summer and it soon became a reality for her because she enjoyed being around kids so much just like her friend nicoleta did and they both loved working together in the summer as camp counselors.
