The helicopter slowly descended onto the bright yellow H in the designated landing area. The lower it got the more the blue Umbrella logo became visible. Its dark steel blades making thudding sounds as it impacted the surrounding air and falling rain. Causing dust, debris to fly everywhere and water from nearby puddles to scatter.
It was dark, cloudy and raining. It had been muggy like that all day. Gloomy and steady, much like General Blade. She wouldn't dare show it though. Not on base, not in front of her troops. They needed her to be strong, level headed. Moreover she needed them to keep her that way.
Sonya and her team patiently stood by the helipad awaiting Chris Redfield's arrival. Jacqui, Takeda and Jin were close by joined by Johnny. He was pacing back and forth, arms crossed and sulking. He was keeping his cool as best as he could, even though he wanted to break Jin in half right then and there.
Occasionally, Johnny would catch himself staring at the young man's back. He could help but think of all the times he himself screwed up. Thinking of all the times his own arrogant and selfish actions put others in danger. Now that he had a family, Johnny realized just how reckless and careless he had been. But that was no excuse. Actions have consequences.
Chris stepped off the helicopter wearing his usual black combat gear. Cargo pants, long sleeved shirt, and shoulder harness for his favorite pistol. He stood by waiting, smoking his cigar. His demeanor dark and moody as always. Chris was soon joined by is closest team member, Tundra. Along with two new faces to add to the mission. The rest of the team stayed back at base. Keeping an eye on the surveillance equipment they had setup in and around the village. "General." Chris greeted her as he approached.
Sonya wasn't even looking in his direction. "Who are they Redfield?" She demanded. Sonya was in no mood for games. She had one thing on her mind and one thing only. She needed to know all parties that were involved. She wasn't about to just trust anyone.
"Associates." He said gruffly. "We all have common interest in this mission."
Sonya wasn't impressed. She wanted a definite answer. Her eyes narrowed in frustration. She stepped forward, past Chris, approaching the closer of the two new associates. She's a little shorter than Sonya. Blue eyes with shoulder length brown hair. She was wearing the same black combat gear, same as Chris and Tundra. Everything about her conveyed a sense of strength and determination. From her the way she carried herself to the way she wasn't afraid to look Sonya in the eye. Sonya could tell she wasn't the type to take any shit from anyone. "Who are you?" Sonya asked them.
"Jill Valentine, BSAA agent." she spoke. No smiling, nodding nor any type of friendly gestures. Just a simple straight forward answer with a no bullshit attitude. Sonya figured they would get along just fine.
"You?" Sonya asked the other. Another woman with her brown hair up in a ponytail. Same black combat gear as the others. She is young looking with her high cheek bones and soft facial features. But her eyes told another story. She had the same look as Jill. They had both been through the shit, and it showed.
"Claire Redfield." She said with a slight smirk. "His sister."
That would have to do for now. The rain was picking up and Sonya wanted to get this meeting over with as soon as possible. "Come along." Sonya waved her hand as she turned to walk away. The Special Forces and Redfield's team headed inside to the conference room.
Sonya placed her hand on the scanner to unlock the door. Security had been tightened on base ever sense the mission started. Knowing Kano was attempting to buy unknown bioweapons, they could never be too careful.
