-Amily's POV-
Anchor ends up being the one to talk to Trent and he eventually apologizes to Annie. They haven't decided whether or not Annie will move in with him or he'll move in with us. I'm not thrilled by the idea of having a baby as a roommate but I'd allow it if it helps Annie.
Now that they've made up, I'm back to spending most of my days with Finnick. Anchor has been helping out a lot at Mags' place and Finnick has started preparing me for mentoring. The reaping is a little over a month from now.
You're sitting on the beach with Finnick when he asks you, "Do you ever imagine a world with no games?"
You sigh and look at him. "One can dream but there's no point in dwelling on fantasies," you reply. He sighs as he pulls you closer to him.
The two of you are pretty much inseparable now and Finnick has been a lot touchier (in a friendly and respectful way). You think it's because he's scared you're gonna get sent off to rehab again and he needs to know you're safe and nearby.
You've been clean since you left rehab and have denied any morphling offered to you by your clients. Finnick and Anchor are proud of your sobriety.
-Finnick's POV-
Of course I catch feelings for the one person I know I shouldn't. My heart always makes stupid choices.
I didn't realize that my feelings for Amily were more than platonic until the morning we found her unresponsive. I had slept so peacefully next to her. When I woke up and saw her next to me, something in my mind clicked. Unfortunately, that morning turned to chaos and she had to spend 4 weeks in the capital, but now that she's home I can't help but stare at her any chance I get.
She's so beautiful. I love the way her brown wavy hair flows down her back, and the way her green eyes crinkle when she laughs. She's short and adorable and I know I shouldn't have these feelings towards her, but I can't help it.
"I'm glad she's doing better," Anchor states, snatching you from your daydreaming. The two of you were surfing on Victors' Beach while Amily lay tanning in the sand.
"Yea," I reply. "She seems nervous about mentoring, but she's been more talkative lately."
"Maybe to you," Anchor snorts. "I can barely get more than two words out of her."I never noticed how quiet Ams was around everyone but me and Annie.
"Finnick quit staring at her," Anchor laughs. I look away sheepishly.
"Look," he said. "I know what's going on in that big head of yours and I'm not allowing it."
"I don't know what you're talking about," I lie, desperately trying to change the subject.
"Finnick," Anchor says sternly. "She is not in any state for whatever your brain wants to do. It's obvious you like her but please don't tell her. She's finally getting better and we can't interfere with that."
I sigh. "Do you really think I'd be bad for her?"
"No it's not that," Anchor grumbles. "She's just too fragile right now for anything more complicated than friendship. I'm not saying never, I'm just saying now is not a good time."
I get where he's coming from. He's just trying to protect her and knows how she would react to any sort of confession of feelings. I don't even want to tell her my feelings to be honest. I know they aren't reciprocated and probably never will be.
Amily has made it very clear how she feels about feelings and relationships. All I can do at this point is be there for her as a friend, no matter how much I want it to be more than that.
For my birthday we had a simple dinner at Mags' house. We all agreed to no drunken activities due to how well that went last time. Mags, however, allowed me a single shot as it's not everyday you turn 20.
Amily made us matching friendship bracelets for my birthday present. She still keeps the necklace I gave her on all the time. I think this is my favorite gift.
My bracelet is dark blue with white woven throughout, whereas hers is light blue with black throughout. I don't care how dirty it gets, I'm never taking it off. I tie it to my ankle instead of my wrist as I'm worried it will wear out too fast if it's near my hands.
