My Memorable Summer

Chapter seven

Just cool, don't panic. I thought to myself. Liam is like this with everyone.

Currently we were on the beach, sitting on a towel, in the sand, Liam next to me and his arm around me as my head rested on his shoulder. I was in my swimwear and denim shorts, my oversized shirt discarded beside me.

Liam's like this with everyone. His love language is physical touch and affection. And we are good friends so this is totally normal, I thought.

I laughed as I saw Nick run into the water and then abort back instantly. "Shut up! The water's cold." he shouted from the shore, looking at me.

"Stop being afraid of the water and get your ass here!" Alex yelled as he swam in the sea. "Nat, Liam. You two come as well." he continued.

"No. I'm good." I replied, shouting so that they could hear me.

"Come on, Natalie." Liam said, holding my hand and standing up.

I shook my head but he had already pulled me to my feet. He dropped him phone on the towel and then ran towards the shore, holding my hand and dragging me as well. I laughed as he did too.

The water was indeed cool but in a very comfortable way. I dived in and swam around a little before surfacing again. Jay splashed water at me and we all laughed.

"Let's play chicken!" Nick said, emerging out of the water as we all wheezed.

"What are you? a child?" Atlas said splashing water towards Nick. "Yes. C'mon it'll be fun." Nick replied, wiping water off his face.

"Okay, yeah. Let's play. Choose your teams." Jeremy said.

"Alex is with me." Nick stated, swimming towards Alex.

"Yeah okay, me and Jere then." Jay said as he was already standing next to him. Atlas and Liam looked at each other for a second and then Atlas said, "I'll join in the next round." and backed away.

"I guess it's you and me, Natalie." Liam said, swimming towards me. I could see the smirk on his face even when he was underwater.

"It is." I said as I felt his hands wrap around my legs and seconds later I rose above the water, sitting on his shoulders. I laughed with the other as they got up on each other's shoulder as well. We attacked each other and Jay was the first to fall within the span of half a minute. Soon Alex fell too as I pushed him backwards.

"Yes!" Liam said raising his hands, palms upwards for me to high-five and I did that.

We all played one more round with Atlas instead of Jay. In the third round Jay came in for my place as I walked towards the shore. I heard all their laughs behind me as they fought each other.

Near our stuff I saw Liam's phone ringing. I looked at Liam and then his phone seeing that someone was facetiming him. I picked up his phone and screamed, walking back near the water, "Liam!"

He turned around with Jay on his shoulders. I looked at the phone seeing the name Gabriella flashing on it, and I said, "Gabriella is calling you."

Liam instantly pushed Jay off his shoulders and swam towards me as fast as he could. I backed away holding his phone. "Who's Gabriella?" I asked, in a very unnecessary high note, mocking him.

"Give me my phone back." he said as he made it to the shore, with a sheepish grin on his face.

"Should I pick up the phone?" I said, breaking into a run along the tides of the sea.

"What? No! Natalie!" he yelled, chasing after me.

I looked back, behind me, seeing he was coming closer, running faster. My hair flying backwards, the phone stopped ringing but seconds later rang again.
