We stood at the airport gate, behind the railings waiting for Gabriella and Liam's mom. Their plane's supposed to be landed by now but they still hadn't arrived at the door. I can't believe that only a few hours ago I talked for the first time to Gabriella and now she was coming here. Talk about being spontaneous.
I was excited to meet Liam's sister but was really nervous to meet his mom.
"Are you nervous, right now?" Jay, who was standing next to me asked.
"Uh, what?" I said, later realizing what he asked me, "No, no, not at all. I'm chill as ice." I said forcing a laugh, awkwardly.
"The fact that you'd say that, means you are nervous." He said, raising his eyebrows. "What are you even nervous about? Ella already loves you more than Liam." he continued, reassuring me.
"I know. I'm not worried about Gabriella." I said, looking at the exit gate, again and again.
"Oh." he said and then paused before continuing, "You are anxious about meeting Mrs. Alvarez."
I looked at him and narrowed my eyes. "Shut up before I punch your smug face." I said, coldly.
"Okay. Firstly, my face is not smug, you are the smug face one. And secondly, everyone knows you like Liam, and you are meeting his mother right now. Of course you are jumpy." he said and for some reason I was really being annoyed by his british accent an how tall he was because currently he was towering me. Oh god, this is a nightmare.
I saw Liam leapt over the railings and run towards the gate. That's when I realised he was running towards a small girl who just appeared out of the gates, Gabriella.
"Don't be nervous." Jay whispered in my ear before moving forward to greet Gabriella and the lady, in her late forties, who was behind her, who I assumed was Liam's mother. I smile appeared on my face as I saw Gabriella wave violently in my direction. Liam hugged her mother before picking up Gabriella in his arms. I heard their laughs and chuckles as I moved towards them.
"You must be Natalie!" Liam's mother squealed, walking towards me and hugging me. I smiled and hugged her back, giving her the flowers I bought for her.
"Oh, mija. You are so pretty." she said, in her Spanish accent, accepting the flowers I gave her and looking at my face adoring me.
"Gracias, Mrs. Alvarez." I said, in the hopes of impressing Liam's mother.
"Ah. You're Spanish?" she said, with a new found interest.
"My mother is Spanish." I replied, smiling.
"I must meet with your mother once." She said, smiling wider.
"I'm sure you two will get along, Mrs. Alvarez." I stated.
"No need to be so formal, mija. Call me Juana." She said. I smiled in response.
"Natalieeeeeeeeee!!" I heard Gabriella's shriek from Liam's arms. I looked back, seeing she was extending her arms towards me to for me to hold her. I was no one to deny her request. I walked towards Liam and her, and took Gabriella in my embrace. She laughed and chuckled, hugging me.
"Hello Gabriella. Was the flight fun?" I asked her, removing a strand of hair from her face. She smiled and nodded vigorously making all the hair fall back onto her face. I laughed at her amusing act of defiance. Liam was standing next to me as I held Gabriella between us. He removed hair from her face, chuckling.
I heard camera shutters, not one but multiple. To my not-so-surprise, all the guys had their phones out clicking pictures of me, Liam and Gabriella.
"You guys look so perfect." Jay said, clicking another picture.
"Like a happy family." Alex added and the guys burst out laughing.
I don't think Gabriella understood they were making fun of us because she too started laughing. But it was funny. We all laughed together.
Juana had another flight back home and the boarding time was about to begin so she went back inside after instructing Liam about not letting Gabriella stay awake for too long and not eating junk food. Juana left after hugging Gabriela one last time. Gabriella walked to Liam's side, holding his hand and said, "We aren't going to do a thing mom said, right?" Liam looked at her with a serious face and said, "Of course, we aren't going to do anything she said." I shook my head and laughed at their immaturity.
We were all in the car. Liam and I in the second row with Gabriella on his lap. Nick, Alex and Jay were sitting behind us as Atlas was sitting next to Jeremy.
"Do you know, Ella?" Alex begun and was cut off by her as she said, "I don't." Alex scoffed, "I'm just gonna ignore that and continue what I was gonna say. So, do you know that on the first day we came here, Nat was sitting exactly where you're sitting right now." My eyes widened as I looked at Alex. My cheeks heated up as I remembered that night. I could feel Liam's gaze on me as I refused to make eye contact with him.
"Really?" Gabriella asked, looking at me, "You were sitting on Li-Li's lap?" We all burst out laughing when Gabriella called Liam Li-Li.
"What?" Gabriella looked at Liam, asking why everyone was laughing.
"They are laughing because you called me Li-Li." Liam told her, rolling his eyes at me as I laughed.
"Well, I have nicknames for all of you." She said after we all finally stopped laughing. "You are Tilly." She said pointing at me. "You are Ally" she said to Alex, to which he was bewildered. "Yours in Nini" she pointed at Nick as he frowned. "You're J-J." she said and Jay shook his head, raising his eyebrows. "You are Jerry, like Tom and Jerry." Gabriella said to Jeremy as we all wheezed. "And you are Atty." she said, lastly pointing at Atlas.
"I quite frankly like mine." Jeremy said, looking at Gabriella for only second.
"I do too." I added.
"WE DON'T!" Alex, Nick and Jay yelled from behind. We all laughed and wheezed throughout the car ride.
We were all quite tired after travelling in the car for two hours and it was already late at night. We went through a drive thru to get food and when we arrived at home, we all just straight went to bed.
I held Gabriella in my arms who was asleep as Liam and Jay took out the two gigantic suitcases from the car trunk. They carried the suitcases behind me as I walked towards my room upstairs. All the other guys had already crashed onto their beds and we're probably asleep my now.
"Are you sure this is all?" I said sarcastically as Jay and Liam kept the suitcases near the bed.
"You'd wonder why a child with tiny clothes need two suitcases for a weekend." Jay replied.
"Well J-J, don't forget the time when you packed an entire suitcase for a single camping night." Liam said, burning Jay. Jay groaned in response, rolling his eyes.
I slowly put Gabriella on my bed as Jay left my room. Tucking her in, I saw Liam moving closer to me.
"I hope you've not forgotten your promise." He whispered.
"What promise?" I acted innocent.
"Very funny, Tilly." Liam said and I chuckled. I looked at Gabriella and then Liam and said, "Meet me on the roof top at midnight."
A smirk appeared on his face and his eyes said everything before he left my room.
