Chapter 4: The girl in green

 "Vex's dad is gonna be picking her up today so we can stay here." Rose said.

"I would love to stay but I wanna go out and get Vex a gift now that I know she's bi." I said.

"Your such a sweet girl! You have my phone number right?" Said Rose.

"Uhh yes why?" I said confused.

"How about I drive you to a store, drop you off, and the text me when I need to pick you back up?" Rose said.

"Yes that's so smart!" I said.

"Alright let's go!" Said Rose.

Me and Rose went in her car. She drove perfectly so I could relax but also get to where I needed on time. Rose was a perfect mom.

"Alright we're here. Here is some cash-" Rose said.

I cut her off.

"No no no. I have my own money you save yours." I said.

I didn't want Rose to spend any money! This was all gonna be me. I just figured out Vex was bi. This was really important info. It's not like I like her. It's just cool to know about your friend's sexuality.

"Are you sure? I have spare money-"

" Rose. It's okay. I'm gonna go inside I'll call you when I'm ready for you to pick me up. Thanks Rose love you!"

"I-"

Before Rose could talk I ran into the store. I wasn't gonna let Rose pay for any of the stuff I will buy for Vex.

"Okay okay" I said to myself as I looked through the pride merch. There wasn't a lot but I would have to deal with that. I turn around and end up bumping into someone.

"I am so sorry!" I said worried.

"Oh it's fine." said the person.

I picked up the shirt they dropped then handed it to them. That made me look at their face. They had blue eyes and ginger hair.

"You are so pretty! What's you're name!" I said.

"My name is Lucy. You have no idea how good you made me felt by calling me pretty." Lucy said.

"Yeah of course! Who wouldn't think you're pretty!" I said.

"Haha a lot of people. Anyways. My name is Lucy as you know! What's yours?" Lucy said with a smile.

"My name is Rain. Hey what is your pronouns and sexuality and gender and stuff if you don't mind me asking?" I said.

Lucy's face kinda went pale. I looked confused.

"My gender is..."

Lucy cut off. I was very confused now.

"Lucy you don't have-"

Lucy cut me off

"No no its fine. I'm bisexual and a transgender girl. I use she/her pronouns." Lucy said

"Oh wow thats amazing! I just figured out my best friend is bisexual. Can you help me pick out a gift for her?" I said.

"Oh.. Yeah I can!" Lucy said happily.

I could tell that this poor girl had not been accepted by most. I'm here now though.

Me and Lucy found the perfect gift for Vex... a tiny dinosaur plush with the bisexual colors. Then me and Vex talked. For hours. It was fun. Turns out me and Lucy have a lot in common. We both like eating cookies with whipped cream on top. We both like drawing. But most of all, we have both sworn to protect someone before and it's gone wrong.

Eventually Rose came to pick me up. Lucy looked down. I know she didn't want to be alone.

"Hey. Come to my house." I said

"Wait like right now!?" Lucy said

"Yes. I can tell you don't wanna go home. My friend's mom Rose is welcoming and accepting. Do you trust me?"

I held out my hand.

"Yeah. I trust you."

Lucy took my hand.

We went out to Rose's car.

"You didn't tell me you were meeting up with a friend!" Rose said

"I wasn't planning to. Rose, this is Lucy. Can Lucy stay over? I'll explain when we get home." I said hoping she would say yes.

"Alright get in the car. Explain while we're driving."
