Sebastian's POV

We were transported in the pile of snow, surrounded by Hunters' bodies, decapitated arms bent out sockets frozen in time; eyes wide in fear, heads severed from their necks as the hair sprouted towards the sky, blood splatter telling a story of a squad of six having no chance. There were no children, she wouldn't dare hurt a child–just leave them without parents.

Stop. Stop with the anger.

"Why are we here?"

Sapphire had been here, but she was not here now.

Zari's paw prints were lost in the snow, however her relic scent lingered in the distance. Her claws carved into trunks, defending her life. She was strong, she was safe and unstoppable. If the Hunters wanted her, they would have to step up their skills, strength and firepower.

"You tell me." The woman smiled.

She spread her arms out and closed her eyes. She breathed as the snow began to disperse, the bodies sunk into the Earth, each part of them, hidden beneath as if they had never existed. The cycle of life, Sapphire would say, they were fertilizer.

"Who are you?"

"Do you have an issue with Sapphire? Are you intimidated by her? Scared even?"

I glared at her.

Nick barked, pawing at her leg, begging to be transformed back to normal. She nudged him to the side and focused on me. "There goes those wolf eyes. Don't get pissy because I am right."

"You are wrong."

"If I wasn't then why are we here? Your blood is a direct line to her, your souls are intertwined and yet we are miles away from where we are supposed to be. Tell me."

"How do you know this? How do you know about me? About Sapphire?"

"Maybe I don't know anything. You don't love her, you let her go. You were stronger before."

I growled, losing my temper. I grabbed her throat, raising her in the air. "I'm done playing games with you, Witch. Turn my brother back and tell me where Sapphire is."

Her eyes began to glow bright green, the diamond edged into her forehead radiated power. Her smile was mischievous, but she still held a look of all knowing. There was fear, no care for her life.

A force propelled me back through a tree and tumbling down deep into the Earth. I could smell the deteriorating flesh, my breath escaped me as she hovered above. Her essence was pummeling me into the Earth and I couldn't move a muscle to stop her.

"You need me more than I need you. Your brother needs me more than I need him. Sapphire is the only reason why I decided to help you. She is the only reason why I will continue to help you. If you attack me again, I will keep your brother as my familiar. Be warned, I already have one and he is very possessive. Understand?"

Of course Sapphire would have an aggressive, neurotic, pain-in-the-ass friend.

She released me, turning her back to me. "If you are done pussy footing around, we have a long way to travel."

I exhaled slowly, rocking forward on my feet as I heard Nick yelled. "Finally! Who the fuck are you?"

"I will feed you to Oscar, if the next word out of your mouth is not thank you or silence."

"Thank you." Nick uttered. "Who is Oscar?"

I walked over to Nick, placing my hand on his shoulder. "You alright?"

He nodded, looking after the witch. "It's her. The need to protect her, to be near her, to be everything and anything she needs. It's her."

"Are you positive?"
