Sebastian's POV

"Do you know where you are going?" Nick asked again as we exited White Bear Territory.

"I got us this far, haven't I?"

"Not as hard as you think considering you knew to go past White Bear territory. You are following a woman who does not want to be found. Her scent is faint and she covers her tracks well."

"What is your point?"

"My point is wait a moment and think. What places does she have to travel through to get to her final destination and we can cut her off there."

"There is a town nearby."

"But?" He asked, looking closely at my expression.

"But Zari would redirect her, so she doesn't get tempted."

I remember Sapphire looking over the horizon, glazing past me determined to leave me behind, escape to the Dark Shadows.

"What's between here and Dark Shadows?"

"Covens, Hunters and Nomads." He simply shrugged his shoulders. "It's really a toss up of what comes first. I have only traveled to Nomads land."

"I am wanted."

"Then, you better hope we run into Nomads and request sanctuary. We mind our own business and welcome those in need. I'm sure you forgot."

I rolled my eyes. "You followed Rohan rules and lived by the Raven code as I did. You did not try and teach me–"

"No, I tried to show you. You failed your first test. I took you to get your first tattoo, a compass, our vow to never settle or bow in a pack but you chose Ravens."

"I am an Alpha." I firmly stated.

"You can be an Alpha Nomad." He smiled, taking the lead. "The thing that is constant is the sun. You can always find your way."

He picked up three sticks: he pushed the medium sized stick into the ground creating a shadow.

"The sun in the Northern Hemisphere travels from East to West. The medium size stick represents the sundial."  He raised the second stick, breaking it in half and stuck it in the shadow of the sundial. "This is your marker."

He sat down, pulling out his mason jar for a drink.

"What are you doing?"

"We have to wait until the sun moves to continue the lesson. Five minutes won't hurt you, will it?"

"Why can't you just lead the way?"

He smirked. "How would you learn? I did fail you, but it's not too late to make up for it."

I sat down beside him. "How...how did she seem when she left?"

"Determined, a little bit pissed. I owe her a goat." He sucked his teeth.

"Why?"

"I said it would take you two days. It took you four. She waited for you, then she started talking to herself, staring at the walls. I thought she was losing her marbles."

"She was talking to Zari. They have this internal thing."

"I realized when she tried to kill me in my sleep. She is extremely intimidating and terrifying."

"Yes she is."

"How is it having a two-sided mate? Is it like having sex with a stranger?"

I glowered at him. "Are you asking for your dreams? Would you like a vivid play by play?"
