We reached the doctor and it was a busy night to be injured. Sick and deadly injuries were to the left and the minor scraps were to the right. The parole crew rallied around the Captain's bed with concerned looks.
"I just heard!" A woman came rushing in, out of breath. "Alpha and Parole B have pushed the enemies back! They are coming back now!"
The sick and injured roared and cheered. You would have thought I stepped into a party with snacks and beer if so many people were not injured.
Henry, the right eyed scar man, helped me into a cot. We got acquainted while walking here. He served under the General for five years. He was the Captain of their parole crew, but on a normal day he is one of the major generals of their army. "Doc, we need some help over here."
Soon a doctor appeared with a clipboard in her hand, eyeing me suspiciously. "She is an outsider. She doesn't belong here, I have more important patients to treat."
"There is no woman more important than her." General yelled out, pulling down the curtain that divided us. We were two cots away. "She is one of us. Goldilocks saved my life. You will fix her." He grunted in pain, shifting to glare at the doctor. "She is no outsider!" He yelled, making it known to everyone then proceeded to cough up more blood.
How could he muster the energy to yell? He had a chunk of side removed and was still rowdy.
The room grew silent, if you were in pain there was no sound of it. You could hear crickets in the grass.
"Alright." Doc said. "Settle down. Ayma take care of General King, please, while I patch..." She stared at me. "Goldilocks up."
Henry gave me a nod goodbye. "Thank you." He squeezed my shoulder and went to join the rest of his mates.
Doc looked over my wounds in shock. She put down her clipboard and stood over my cot. "I have to reset your leg, you dislocated it. You seem to have skull fragments in your arms and one tooth, apparently." She looked at me closely. "You sure do fight dirty, uh."
"Damn right!" Henry cheered. "She wanted to go back too!"
All eyes seemed to stop and silence filled the room once more as Sebastian walked through the door. He was shirtless and unbelievably breathtaking. There wasn't one scratch on him, just blood. He was covered in soot, dirt and blood. His eyes scanned the room and focused on me, not caring about anything else. He calmly walked over to the Doc and looked over my injuries.
"Alpha." She bowed. "Are you injured? Do you-"
"Focus on her."
She nodded quickly grabbing plyers from her instrument tray. She began to pick out the fragments, collecting them in a metal bowl. I looked at him, but he wouldn't look at me. He continued to stare at my wounds then let out a low growl, pulling away he focused his brewing anger at Captain Pourer.
He marched over to him, grabbing him by his throat. "Nick." He said deadly calm. "Why was my mate carrying your reckless limb body through the woods?"
"Your mate?" He glanced at me then smiled at Sebastian. "Well, I guess my hope of her being my wife is out the window."
"I will kill you." He growled.
"What about me? Is this how you treat your injured brother?" His voice strained, but his playful demeanor remained.
He released him, annoyed and shaking his head. He walked towards Doc, standing across from me, leaning up against the wall with his arms crossed and his lips in a firm line.
"Does the baby want his pacifier?" I teased, hoping he would look at me.
He granted my words the same annoyed look as his brother, but still no eye contact. He was too focused on what the Doc was doing to hear the laughter from the other side of the room.
